Synopsis

Seventeen-year-old Evangeline Frost had a great life, until the car accident that killed her father and turned her mother into a bitter alcoholic. Unable to bear the guilt, Evangeline attempts to take her own life, saved only by the memory of her beloved father. Left with no other options, Evangeline is enrolled in a program for troubled teens at Kindred Hides Wildlife Preserve. There she meets Caster, a keeper as annoying as he is caring; Jett and Lettie, who treat her more like a daughter than troubled teen; and Ruke, a prized giraffe in mourning for his lost mate. Immersed in the preserve with her new friends, Evangeline finally begins to heal. But the haunting memories of the accident and her mother’s unforgiving words threaten to destroy her progress. Only her new friends and their unconditional support, along with her own special connection with Ruke, can save her. Evangeline must learn that there is redemption for her father’s death, and that the bonds between human, animal, and life are not as fragile as she once thought.

KRISTINA CIRCELI

Night owl, Dorito lover, and quiet eccentric - Kristina Circelli is the author of several fiction novels, including The Helping Hands series, The Whisper Legacy, The Never, and The Sour Orange Derby. Her latest series, The Whisper Legacy, features Beyond the Western Sun. This book is what all fantasy adventures must strive to be: a complex, intricate examination of human emotion set within the context of worlds known only in our imagination. Melding fantasy and legend in an epic quest, this series signals the arrival of Kristina Circelli as a master storyteller and an important voice in Native American literature. A descendent of the Cherokee nation and niece of a Cherokee elder, Circelli holds both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in English from the University of North Florida, where she teaches creative writing. She also heads Red Road Editing, a full-service editing company for independent authors and commercial clients. She currently resides in Jacksonville, Florida with her husband, Seth, and cats, Lord Finnegin the Fierce and Mr. Malachi the Mighty. Fun Facts
 1) Many of the animals in “Fragile Creatures” are inspired by real ones that I have personally worked with.

 2) “Fragile Creatures” features my favorite animal - the giraffe (contrary to popular belief that it’s the cat.

 3) The Neverending Story is my favorite movie. It taught me to dream and to believe in the impossible.

 4) The fastest and most surefire way to get and keep my attention is to open the discussion with mention of an adventure.

 5) I have a slight addiction to Doritos. I could easily go through a bag in one sitting. But, I do still hold a grudge against whoever made the decision to end Blazin Buffalo & Ranch Doritos.

 6) Sometimes I think I’m borderline agoraphobic. I hate leaving the house, but all my book events are forcing me out of my comfort zone, in a good way. I admit though, no matter where I am, I can’t wait to get home and snuggle up on the couch with my comfy couch blankets.

 7) I have worked as a shorebird rehabilitator, vet tech assistant, zoo education exhibit guide/goat keeper, and golf course beer cart girl.

 8) As much as I love to write, I don’t write every day. I think if you try to force creativity, you’re missing the point.

 9) I spent two weeks in Ecuador helping a small village in the Amazon, helping to build a new bathroom for schoolkids and a greenhouse for the entire village. I’d give anything to go back. I was also tear gassed in Quito during the same trip. Purely a misunderstanding!

10) I am a terrible self-promoter, which is why I hired a PR agent. I am uncomfortable at trying to talk highly of myself.

 11) Of all my novels, “Fragile Creatures” is the book I am most proud of.

 12) In the Keys, I got to hang out with a sea lion named Mimi. She gave me a kiss and it was the best thing ever.

 13) One day, I want to live in a cabin in the woods, or in a beach house on a remote island.

 14) My first novel, The Helping Hands, was published when I was 17.

 15) My Cherokee name, given to me by an Elder, is Usti Kamama, or Little Butterfly. The butterfly is the only creature able to transcend realms. It is said that if you capture a butterfly, whisper to it your greatest desires and let it go. By releasing the butterfly, you are restoring the balance of nature, and so the butterfly will bring your wishes to the spirit realm and to the Creator, who alone can understand the thoughts of butterflies.

 16) Along those lines, the goose is my spirit guide. The goose is the keeper of childhood imagination, the origins of writing and storytelling.

 17) “Fragile Creatures” is my first YA novel, one that I purposely wrote without the usual love triangle, even if people do keep trying to read one in …

 18) My childhood dream was to marry Raphael, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. Or, be a vampire. OR, a Jack Sparrow-type pirate.

 19) I once painted a tabletop mural for a local restaurant. They have since remodeled and removed all the painted tables, sadly, but for a while my work was on display.

 20) My very first short story, “The Mystery House,” was inspired by my great-great Uncle Louis’ house in Columbus, Maine.

Bargad is a compelling story of love, compassion and gratitude that incorporates the Banyan tree as a way to teach children how to care for and respect many things - from family to the environment, in a way that is easy-to-understand. While this wonderful old tree has withstood all the challenges of time, will it now be able to withstand modernization and will any of the people in the small village come to its aid to help save it the way it has helped save them over generations?

About the Author:
Subhash and Sujata hail from India. They migrated to the United States along with their memories of childhood and youth. Now that they are parents, just like every immigrant they crave to introduce their child to the culture and values of their upbringing. Yet it is challenging to teach something while you are in the midst of adjusting to a different culture yourself. Subhash and Sujata both work in different disciplines and have different styles and backgrounds, but it is the upbringing of their son that brings them on the same page. That exact place where they meet is captured and reflected in their stories, where Subhash can express in words, and Sujata can illustrate them beautifully. Where he puts it in black and white, she adds color to it. You get the idea! These stories are their attempt to share a glimpse of their childhood days with their son. He is their inspiration to write short stories that have meaning to them and provide teaching in some shape or form.

Review for Love Bites by Adrienne Barbeau!!!!

NOT YOUR MAMA’S POLICE PROCEDURAL! A COP STORY WITH BITE…

Not to mention sharp, cutting wit. Detective Peter King and movie star Ovsanna Moore are the sexiest tongue-in-cheek crime-solving duo since MOONLIGHTINGhit the air waves in the ‘80s. But they may remind you more of TRUE BLOOD’s Sookie and Eric than Maddie and David—because one of them’s a vampire. And like Sookie’s Bon Temps, their Los Angeles has its fair share of shapeshifting sometime-humans.

Ovsanna’s the successful owner of her own Hollywood film studio and the star of 17 blockbuster horror films, plus three, sadly, that went straight to video. But even vampires have bad days. Though never fat days or bad hair days—she looks pretty great for 450. And in those four and a half centuries she’s pretty much seen everything, formed an opinion about it, and developed the kind of worldly-wise wit Joan Rivers only dreams about.

Peter, on the other hand, is a Beverly Hills cop firmly rooted in human affairs, from the domestic issues of his lively Italian family to the romantic ones of his neighbor, snake dancer Suzie Q. Though Ovsanna’s had flings with everyone from Genghis Khan to Errol Flynn, Peter’s got what it takes to catch her eye and hold her interest. And he’s one hell of a detective. He's also a consummate master of spin, concealing what he knows about the world of vampires, werewolves, and shapeshifters while solving the crimes they commit.

MY REVIEW
I'm always leary about reading vampire books...

I really enjoyed this book.  I loved the dynamics between Peter and Ovsanna!  It isn't your typical pairing, which is what I enjoyed.

When he asks her to Christmas Eve dinner to meet his family, Ovsanna is terrified.  She's almost 500 years old, and she doesn't know what to wear or how she's going to act.  The cute detective knows what she is, but his family does not.  They only know her as Ovsanna Moore, famous horror actress.

It doesn't help matters that a were wolf is trying to kill her.  She doesn't know who he is, or why he wants to kill her, but she certainly wants to know why and who he is.

I really enjoyed this book!  I loved Ovsanna's personality!!  You realize that a lot of the famous actors are actually part of her band of Hollywood Vampyres! She was surprised by her attraction to the detective, and even more surprised by his invitation to meet his family.  She likes him, and likes that he seems to accept her being what she is.  He's not afraid of her or her world.

I loved Peter!  I loved his family!  He comes from a big Italian family, who seem to welcome in Osvanna with open arms.  Despite her world being one that he thought only existed in books, he wants Osvanna.

As I said, I was leary about reading this book, because vampire books always make me leary.  I do read them, and I do enjoy them... I'm just leary about them.  I loved this book... also.. I think I want a flock of geese around my house like Osvanna.... great idea!!!

 MY REVIEW

Oh my God.... I found another book boyfriend... Kyle Peters... wow... more about him later though...

I have to say, the way Amelia meets Kyle is rather humiliating, but you find out really quickly that she is a klutz.  I honestly was laughing out loud at what happened.  Because of what happened she manages to cut her hand pretty badly, and since Kyle is a doctor, he's makes sure she is treated pretty fast.

When Kyle meets Amelia, he knows she's different.   He wants to take care of her, and doesn't want to let her out of his sight.  She's at the hospital because her sister-in-law just had a baby, and he finds a pretty good way to make sure she sees him again.

Amelia has sworn off men completely.  Her last boyfriend did not treat her well, and she has a rather mortifying secret from that relationship she keeps very close to her.  Honestly, if this guy had done to me what he did to her... I would have crawled inside a hole and never come out.

Taking a chance, she decides to go out with Kyle.  She likes him, but she's terrified of having a repeat performance that she had with her ex.  After talking to her sister-in-law Willow, and telling her what exactly happened with the ex, she feels better about starting fresh with the doctor.

OMG, I loved Willow, and I wish I had a friend like her in my court.  She was awesome, and when the time came, she had Amelia's back in a flash.  Amelia's older brother Asher didn't like hearing what happened, but Willow takes care of the problem of the ex. I was like... YOU GO GIRL!!!

Once Amelia opens up to Kyle, he tells her more about himself.  What he tells her is heartbreaking, she instantly feels for him.  Little does she know there is someone from past who wants to hurt him, and take her down in the process.

When Kyle is faced with the realization that he could lose the woman he loves, he is devastated.  He's determined to take care of her, and make her his completely.

I really loved this book!!  I loved Amelia's big family and how they rallied around each other.  You knew they would always be there for each other, no matter what.

Now... for Kyle.  Even with his secrets, he was completely enamored with Amelia.  He took care of her when she needed it, and proved to her protective older brothers that he cared about her.  After everything that happened in her past, they want to make sure he's the real deal.

Excerpt
“Leave the shoes on honey,” I whisper.
I am so ready to just sink into her, but I’m fully aware that I need to see to her needs first. And that is something I can do willingly. I have been thinking about the first time nonstop. She was so responsive, and it is something I can quickly become addicted to.
I make my way down and she smells so damn good. She’s breathing heavy, anticipating my next move. Just like last time she’s on fire. Her legs start twitching as she writhes beneath me. It doesn’t take her long and she’s coming in my mouth, screaming my name. She digs those amazing heels in my back and I need to be inside her now. While she rides her orgasm back down, I reach in the night stand for a condom. I’m so turned on by just the noises she was making I don’t think it will take me long to find my own release. Rolling the condom on, I take my position over top of her. I can see the look of want in her eyes. She grabs my neck and pulls me down for a fierce kiss. I know she can taste herself on my lips and it’s beyond fucking hot. I slowly enter her and she makes whimpering noises.
“Oh, that feels so good,” she says.
I sink all the way in and start to move slowly. She’s so verbal and it feels so good I can feel myself quickly at the brink. She bucks her hips and flips me over on my back. In one swift movement she’s riding me hard and deep. She bends her knees up and plants her feet on either side of my hips. She then leans back and places her hands on my knees. She moves slowly as her head falls back, the ends of her long blonde hair brush my upper thighs.
MeetTheAuthor
I am an “Indie” adult contemporary romance author. I am a wife and a stay at home mom. I have been married to my wonderful husband since 1996. I love being a stay at home mom to our two teenage boys. We have a handful of pets, a dog named Lucy (who is in my books), a guinea pig named Flufy, (my son spells her name that way) and a cat named meow-meow, who adopted us many years ago and has never left.
I never liked reading as a kid and I only started reading romance novels in the past few years. Soon I couldn't get enough of them. My Kindle and I are inseparable now. A thought occurred to me in December of 2012 that maybe I could write a romance novel. So I went to work with the encouragement of my husband and my sister-in-law. It didn’t take long to figure out that I really enjoyed writing.
I entered my book in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Contest in January of 2013. Needless to say my three hundred word pitch didn’t even make it through the first round. My book never even got read. So now what do you do with a 50,000+ word book? With more encouragement by my wonderful family I decided to self- publish it. So here I am today a self- published author. It has been a lot of hard work but I wouldn’t change a single thing.
It has not been an easy road and there has been a lot of self- doubt, but I stuck with it and I wouldn’t change a thing. I’ve been blessed to have been put in contact with some amazing people that have supported and encouraged me every step of the way.
