Games of Fire Synopsis
Sophie has enough problems in her life without Spencer turning her blood to fire, without his eyes freezing and burning her, without his hatred of her. Since his migration into the house next to hers, Sophia Valdez isn’t sure whether she wants to toss him under a bus or kiss that smirking mouth of his. But even as the temperature rises around them, leaping flames of passion, want and desire, everything either has ever known will be shattered by the lurking shadow hounding their every step, wanting revenge.

Spencer Rowth moves to the sleepy town of River Port with his mother and twelve year old sister, Suzy, to escape a deceitful father, an unfaithful girlfriend and a life crumbling much too fast for him to grapple onto only to be smacked upside the head by the last thing he wanted again. Sophie was everything he refused to want. Her temper, her wit, her laugh, her smile, the way her entire body goes up in flames under his hands are things he would rather slam a lid on and forget. Instead, he finds himself falling for the smart-mouth next door. But how long will he have before the evil chasing them catches up? How long before the very thing he never wanted becomes his only thread to sanity? And who is after them? What do they want and why do they want Spencer and Sophie dead?

Excerpt
“I won’t bite,” he said, probably meaning it as a joke. “Oh if only that were my only problem,” she sighed under her breath. “What?” She shook her head. “Nothing.” She took his hand, slipping her icy fingers through his. The electric sparks tore a fiery path down the length of her arms, nearly melting the ice beneath their feet. She shivered involuntarily and felt his fingers flex. “All right?” Had his voice always been so husky?

She dampened her lips. “Yeah…” The single word died in her throat as she was pulled towards him. Her heart tripped. Her lungs stilled. The heat of his body rushed over her with the subtle scent peppermint, leather, spices and smoke. A soft mist blew around them. Raindrops glistened in his hair, shimmering under the pale glow of the light post. His eyes were shadowed beneath wispy fringes, but the silver in them glinted like pools of liquid mercury. Her breath caught. It must have made a sound because his fingers tightened. His shaky exhale caressed her flushed face. “This,” he whispered so quietly she almost didn’t hear him. “Is why you are so bad for me.”

I am in the process of reading this now, and I love it so far!! I can not stop laughing!!! Also, I have a new book boyfriend... that would be Spencer!!!

Interview with Annabell Cadiz, Author of Lucifer

First off, let me start by saying Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! Today we have Annabell Cadiz visiting the blog today!!!  Welcome to the blog Annabell!

Jessica: What is Lucifer about?

Annabell: LUCIFER is the first book in the SONS OF OLD TRILOGY and follows Zahara Faraday and her family. During the day, Zahara and her family work normal jobs, live a normal life but when nightfall hits, Zahara, along with her father Solomon who is all human while her mother Mia and Aunt Catalina are Light Witches, hunt down rogue supernaturals—supernaturals who are up to naughty and deadly things (i.e. stealing human memories, drinking their blood). Enter Lucifer. He possesses a human vessel and sets out to use Zahara’s family as part of his plan to get revenge against Heaven. He has a past connection with Zahara’s family and will make them pay for what was done to him many years before. There’s murder, kidnapping, Nephilim battling Light Witches, Imagoes (supernatural creatures that can suck out human souls and control the element of water) battling Zahara and her family, fairies trying to steal memories, and flirt fighting romance. Fun stuff ;)

Jessica: Who are the characters in Lucifer?

Annabell: There are a good number of characters in LUCIFER:
Zahara Faraday (Kick-Butt Main Lead)
Becca King (Best Friend & Sidekick)
Bryan Hamilton (Hawt Male Lead)
Rekesh Saint-Louis (Powerful Imago Coven Leader)
Solomon Faraday (Zahara’s Father)
Mia Faraday (Zahara’s Mother & Light Witch)
Adam King (Becca’s Father)
Ariel King (Becca’s Mother)
Leanian (Imago & Rekesh’s Right Hand Man)
Lucifer (Powerful Fallen Angel)
Samyaza (Fallen Angel & Lucifer’s Follower)
Chamuel (Fallen Angel & Lucifer’s Follower)
Ashadeus (Fallen Angel & Lucifer’s Follower)
Dustin Michaels (Rogue Cadtellus & Has a Pet Wolf Named Bandit)
Charles (Fallen Angel Turned Good/Owns a School Where He Helps Orphaned or Abandoned Children of Rogue Supernaturals)
Jason (Nephilim)

Jessica: What/who was the inspiration for Lucifer?

Annabell: The inspiration for LUCIFER came from a few questions: What would happen if Lucifer had a child? How would he go about convincing a woman to have a child with him? Would he care if she fell in love with him or just force her? Would he be able to fall in love with a human girl? Would he be changed by that love? My story ideas always begin with a question and spin into madness from there *muahaha*

Jessica: What made you want to write a story involving the devil?

Annabell: I have always been fascinated with the story of the fallen angels from the Bible. How Lucifer rebelled against Heaven and took a legion of angels with him. Why would he betray Heaven? What would he do if he had the opportunity to extract his revenge? Thus, placing a character as the devil.

Jessica: What/who inspires you to write?

Annabell: I am a MAJOR book-a-holic! Books inspire me. I LOVE to read and have to fight myself to keep from reading and focus on other stuff I need to get done (even now the books call out to me!) I’m also inspired by opposites. Light and Dark. Love and Hate. Life and Death. Pain and Healing. I like to explore the way people handle facing opposites.

Jessica: How long have you been writing?
Annabell: I’ve been writing off and on since I was sixteen years old. I wrote my first book when I was sixteen with my best friend at the time but never published it. That book is a hot mess! But I came up with the concept for the FALLEN ANGELS SERIES which moved into the SONS OF OLD TRILOGY and got more serious about writing a few years later.

Jessica: Tough question here, who is your favorite author?

Annabell: Awe man, that question is tough! I LOVE so many authors! I don’t think I can name just one author but I’ll name one of my top favorite authors: Stephen King. I have an entire shelf dedicated to just his books. He can scare the daylights out of me and keep me hooked until I finish the book!

Jessica: What is your favorite book series out now?

Annabell: Ahhh! Another tough question! I’ll just use the first one that came to mind. I LOVE the Bloodlines Series by Richelle Mead, which is ironic considering I hated the Vampire Academy Series with a passion. I love how much of an awkward nerd Sydney Sage is. She has been so sheltered and grew up in such a controlled setting and is insecure in many ways about who she is. But she’s also a girl who will jump into a fight to protect the people she cares about and to clear an innocent person’s name. I think because I’m such a bookworm and nerd, I can relate to her so well. Plus, I like a girl that doesn’t go all stupid just because a hot guy blinks in her direction. And I like that she’s a girl who is SMART and STRONG. She doesn’t use her looks to entice people but her brain.

Jessica: Who would be your perfect book boyfriend?

Annabell: What is with these tough book questions, Jessica?! lol There are so many yummy ones *hehe* I’m going to go with my top three because it’s too hard to choose between them *giggle* *blush* : Adrian from the Bloodlines Series by Richelle Mead, Barnabas from the Madison Avery Series by Kim Harrison, and Jason Shepherd from the Dark Elite Series by Chloe Neill.

Jessica: I like to listen to music while writing, what do you like to do while writing?

Annabell: Most of the time the TV is on as background noise. Sometimes I’ll listen to music (like Family Force 5 or Paper Tongues). Sometimes the house will (miraculously) be silent. A lot of the time I’m snacking while I’m writing. I have a snack stash in my closet *hehe* Cinnamon Teddy Grahams, Doritos, Capri-sun juice packs, Kix cereal lol.

Jessica: Totally random question:  I know you like the Beautiful Creatures series, so who is your favorite character?
Annabell: That’s also a tough question. I’d say it’s a tossup between Link, Macon, and Ethan (for the male characters). Link is just the best friend everyone would want. He has your back through everything, even when he’s terrified out of his mind, and has such a good heart. Ethan is the sweet, cute boy next door who is totally clueless about how to act around girls which just makes him adorable. Macon is powerful, deadly, and carries himself with this old world elegance. I can’t wait to see how they’re portrayed in the upcoming movie!

Thanks so much Annabell for visiting the blog today!!!  I know... the book boyfriend question?  Really hard... I have too many to choose from!!!  How do we pick just one??

Review and Release Day of Betrayals of Spring by LP Dover!!!

Title: Betrayals of Spring (Forever Fae 2)
Author: LP Dover
Release Day: February 13, 2013
Genre: Fantasy, New Adult
Blitz Host: Lady Amber's Tours

Synopsis:
The smell of rain vastly approaches as we are lying on the ground in a sea of flowers. They surround our bodies while the fresh Spring wind caresses our skin with its soft, gentle touch. Combined as one, we stare into each other’s eyes as we bask in the pleasure of our love and OUR land.

The Land of the Fae has flourished bringing a new beginning and a new court, the Fall Court. Five years have passed since then along with the dreaded day that Meliantha, Summer Court Princess and one of the powerful Four, was betrayed and broken-hearted by the sexy and alluring Winter Prince, Kalen. Spurned by the man she loves, Meliantha has turned and fallen into the arms of the fierce and handsome warrior, Finn, who understands she can never love him, but wants more than anything to mend her broken heart.
The Winter Solstice Ball is approaching, meaning Meliantha will have to face the Winter Prince and make it out of there with her heart intact. But what does she do when Prince Kalen acts as if nothing ever happened and seems more in love with her than ever before?

The dark sorcerer has planned his twisted game of lies and deceit well, and has enjoyed making himself a player without anyone’s knowledge. The game is almost over and the players are exactly where they are needed to be. Will Meliantha figure out his twisted game and save all the players? Or will the dark sorcerer once again obtain the power of the Four and take everything away from her…..even her one true love?

I think I have found my place that I would like to live.  That is the summer court!!!  I finished this book early this morning... very early... like I've only had a few hours of sleep early!  I could not put this book down, because I was hooked!

This book is about Meliantha, princess of the Summer Court.  Kalen, the Winter Prince, and brother of Ryder, broke her heart five years ago.  Because of this heart break, she has trained hard and built a wall around her heart, so she won't feel love.  To her surprise, she feels the connection with Kalen when she arrives at the Winter Palace.  She's confused and angry, because of how he treated her.  He is just as confused, because he doesn't know what he's done to make her reject him so quickly.

Just after arriving, her older sister Calista releaizes that Finn, Mel's lover has been taken over by the dark sorcerer.  This comes as a shock to Mel, as a horrible reality comes clear to her, and she struggles to deal with that.  Just after this, she finds out just how far the dark sorcerer  will go to come between her and Kalen, and the prophecy.  This starts her on a journey to mend what has been taken away from her and Kalen.

Kalen... he's beautiful... but he's also very much in love with Mel.  In the midst of his depression, he starts seeing a woman who is not who she seems to be.  In time, he sees her true colors, but it comes at a cost that almost takes his life.  Once he realizes the true reason why Mel hated him so, he makes it his mission to prove her wrong.  He's been in love with her, and missed her so much that now that they can be together, he doesn't want to be apart from her.

The Dark Sorcerer has different ideas though.  This guy is one sick man!!  The way he used Mel is disgusting, and I can not wait to see what she does to him for revenge.  Kalen, who he uses in his own sadistic way, has his own reasons want to kill him.  I strongly hope, because of what he did to Claista in the first book, and then Mel, that he really gets what's coming to him.

I knew when I read Forever Fae (which I was coveting since it came out), this was going to be an amazing book!!  It's proof of it, since I was up past one in the morning reading it! I had to know what happened in the end, but sadly, had to wait until this morning at about five to finish the book.  My eyes started closing of their own volition, which was my cue to go to bed.  Thankfully, it wasn't long to finish it.  I can not wait until the next book!!!

I said this on FB, and I'm stating it here.... I would like to move to the Summer Court, move into Claista's old room, and have someone with the looks of Ryder or Kalen giving me attention.

Review of Lucifer by Annabell Cadiz

Have you ever wondered what could be hiding in the shadows?

Well, for eighteen-year-old Zahara Faraday, she doesn’t have to wonder. You see she comes from a lineage of Light Witches, those who have chosen to help protect and serve between the supernatural world and the human world. The only problem is Zahara, like her father Solomon, is as human as a human being can be whereas her mother, Mia, and her Aunt Catalina, were born as Light Witches. As a family they hunt down rogue supernaturals—creatures who harm humans or who have committed an act against their kingdom.

Zahara’s hunting skills are usually kept dormant since her parents would prefer she live life as a normal human girl without knowledge of the supernatural world. She plans on doing just that—except when she finds a couple being attacked by fairies, she has no choice but to step in. Before she can return to pretending to be blissfully ignorant, Zahara encounters a problem she isn’t the least equip to handle: Bryan Hamilton, the good looking new co-worker she has to help train. In a heartbeat, her best friend, Becca King, has set her up on a double date with herself and her new crush, Rekesh Saint-Louis, who happens to be the most powerful leader of the biggest Imago Coven in South Florida –supernatural creatures with the ability to control water . . . and suck out human souls.

Zahara has no time to focus on how she’s going to explain her double date with her best friend and the enemy they have a tentative truce with to her parents because soon one of the members of Mia and Catalina’s coven is found murdered with a strange tattoo of a snake with wings carved into his arm.

Zahara is then thrown into a whirlwind battle with an angel determined to have revenge against God, an Imago coven she doesn’t think they should trust, and slew of dream-eating fairies and powerful Nephilims, hybrid children of angels and humans, more than happy to rip her to shreds.

Normal just got a deadlier definition.

I was really excited about reading this book.  Annabell sent it over to me in the summer, so I had an idea of how it started.

This book is about Zahara Faraday who is from a family of light witches.  Her best friend Becca is her constant companion, and together the two of them manage to get into their fair share of trouble.

When Zahara meets Bryan, this is when she world starts to change.  She's never had a boyfriend, so she's not sure how to act with him.  Also, he seems to show up when she needs him the most.  Lucifer has come back, and wants Zahara for his own sick reasons.  It is up to Bryan, Rekesh (he's yummy), Becca, Zahara's parents and Aunt to protect her.  She's feeling conflicted when Bryan reveals a secret to her that is quite surprising in the beginning.

I loved the action in this book.  There was a fight scene at Rekesh's house that had me glued to the book. I had to see if Zahara made it out alive!! In the end trusts the wrong person and it almost costs her her life.  Again, I was glued to the book to see what happened to her!!

I found Becca slightly annoying, and reckless at times.  Also, for the girls to be eighteen and that sheltered was a little hard to believe.  When they weren't working, they were at home, or they were at church with Zahara's parents closely watching them.  When Zahara meets Bryan, her rebellious side starts to come, and I liked seeing it!  She does get herself into some trouble, but manages, with Bryan's help to get herself out of it.

I did like this book, and can't wait to read the next one!
