Synopsis

My name is Livie Marie Acosta. I am a firm believer that childhood memories are supposed to be happy, joyous, and beautiful. I also believe everyone else in life has just that… except for me, of course.
I came close to having that once with my own family. I had a loving mother that treated me like her little princess. My father was, and still is, the biggest support system in my life, but even his love isn’t enough for me at times. I would have been a proud big sister at the age of seven, but Antonio Jr. was torn away from us before he was even born.
I was destined to be alone and hurt, both emotionally and physically scarred.
The only skeletons that remained of my once happy family was a father I adored, but who lived hundreds of miles away, and a mother whom I had spent most of my own life saving from her demons.
Like many people, they are scarred so deep that when they bleed, it is a reminder that they are still human.
I have a secret. A secret only I know about. I keep my secret well, and keep it hidden from the peeping eyes of the world.
At least I tried… that is until two angels barged into my life, and into my scattered heart. Their presence in my life spun me on my heels, turning my world yet again upside down, and right side up all at the same time.
What I find could either save me, or finally push me over the edge.

Here is my story… Meet the Author Author Picture
My name is Melissa DeOlmos, a newbie to the world of indie writing. I live in sunny side Palm Bay, Florida with my two lovely crazies ages five and two, along with my Law Enforcement champ of a husband. I could say that writing novels has been a passion that I've always pursued, but I can't. Writing for me has always been my own secret escape into a land of wonders, opportunities, loves and so much trouble that I sometimes wonder if I need medication for the stories that pop into my head. I am now deciding to share my mystical mind and stories with the world, so that hopefully others may also find that little something extra they've been looking for. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy my books.

excerpt

Livie and Lawrence I heard someone clearing their throat, causing me to snap my head up from my phone. Coming around the corner was a tall and very, very hot guy. I must have turned into a deer caught in some kind of bright and sexy as hell headlights. Since when did Paul Walker buff up and open an MMA studio. “Can I help you?” Realizing my mouth was open, I snapped it shut and nervously stuffed my phone in to my pocket. “Yes. I was actually wondering if the owner was hiring for staff yet. I saw an article in the paper highlighting a new MMA studio opening. Do you know where I can find the owner?” “You’re looking at him, Sunshine.” I looked him up and down from head to toe again. “Serious?” He looked a little offended by my response, but he looked so young to be in this business. He should be modeling or catching some hang ten waves as a professional surfer. He had that look about him. “Ouch, Sunshine. What’s wrong with me being the owner?” He asked honestly while crossing his thick arms across his chest, and those biceps were oh so yummy. “Sorry… I didn’t mean for it to sound so rude. You just look very young to be in this type of business. I hope I didn’t offend you.” His smile returned and it instantly calmed me. “Sunshine, you don’t have to apologize,” he said as he made his way toward me. He extended his hand out and I took it in mine shaking it firmly. Dad always said a firm handshake was a sign of respect. His touch was warm and soothing. Something about him made me feel extremely comfortable. It wasn’t just that he was sexy and looked like the delicious Paul Walker. His energy enveloped me and calmed me for some reason. “I’m Lawrence Grant Hawthorne. Nice to meet you.” Letting go of his hand I smiled back. “Livie Acosta. Nice to meet you, too.” “So you say you're looking for a job? Here at my studio?” He asked this in a rather incredulous way. I ignored the dumb look on his face, because honestly, he didn’t know I could put him on his ass in a second. I reached into my shoulder bag and pulled out my portfolio. “Yes. I am interested in working for you, especially, if you are going to turn this studio into an MMA training facility. That’s what I read in the paper.” He took my portfolio and opened it, keeping an eye on me as he perused it. He flipped it open and skimmed through it. This guy was tall, and I had to tilt my chin up just to make eye contact. God, I hated being short right now! As quickly as he opened the folder, he closed it and handed it back. “Okay, Livie. You seem to have some experience in martial arts, and if you want to work for me, you wouldn’t mind showing me what you’re made of, would you?” Cocky son of a bitch. I reached over, pulled my shoulder bag off, and laid it on the counter. I emptied my back pocket of my phone and car keys. Smiling, I looked up at him. “I thought you’d never ask.”

excerpt

The dark creature walked over to me, unusually close, the heat from his skin leaping onto mine. He held up his open palm. As if entranced, I placed my hand upon his and our fingers laced together. Suddenly the darkness of his eyes was illuminated with swirls of hypnotic colors circling each other in the very middle where his pupils should be.
I knew I shouldn’t be here, shouldn’t be touching this sinful creature, but I couldn’t stop. His touch was hot with a passion I had never known before, yet so familiar. I was caught in a trap that I never wanted to get out of.
His other hand dug into my hair and jerked my head back, his breath hot on my neck, his eyes peering into mine.
“How many more, ma’am?” a fireman shouted out above the sirens.
The female just stood there in front of the smoldering shelter before her, both hands covering her face, ashen-filled tears falling from the edge of her jaw.
“Ma’am!” the fireman hollered out. “Who else are you missing?”
The wind changed directions. I looked up to see another angel passing by, carrying the breeze along with her. She raised her hand ever so slightly to wave. I nodded at her.
The fireman covered his nostrils with the inside of his arm as the wind carried the sultry smoke toward him.
The female seemed unaffected by the smoke. She just kept staring at that front door, her apprehension more of a focus now as she waited. “Two,” she finally replied.
“Did she say two?” another guy asked.
“Two?” he asked her again to confirm.
Never looking his way, she nodded. “My husband, he went back in for our oldest son.”
“Who are you?” I whispered, my chest heaving up and down from his firm grasp on my hair. My anger flared. I should kill him for putting his hands on me like that, but it felt so good.
He narrowed his eyes at me for a moment before answering, “Draco.”
Draco.
He released me as I stood up straight, facing him. I knew who this strange creature was. I had heard about him on my travels. He was a solider of the dark, with strength witnesses marveled at. Most of the soldiers of the dark were cowards who slithered here and there with little, if any, common sense about their purpose or duty at hand. It was said that this Draco’s loyalty surpassed all others. But there was one other tidbit I had heard that was even more unusual. Those who worked with him, who were on the same side, seemed to like him. It was a concept unheard of for the dark side. Everyone was your enemy and everyone hated each other.
“And you are?” he asked.
If I said my name, he’d know who I was as well, and he’d run away. My intrigue was far too deep to have him disappear just yet.
“It doesn’t matter, does it?” I said.
He smirked, a dimple forming in the side of his cheek.

Fate had finally brought them back to each other, but unfortunately nothing had changed. He was still the same man who ran away from relationships. MY REVIEW

OMG... Leslie... you're going to be the death of me... I found another book boyfriend in Mason...

When I first met Mason in the book above, I loved him!  I thought he was great!!!  I didn't know his past, but once I found out what it was.. wow... he's smexy!  Another SWOON!!!!!

When he decides to leave Claire O'Briene to go back home to North Caroline, he knows it's the biggest mistake of his life.  He has his reasons though...

Claire is heartbroken and rightfully pissed when he leaves.  She loves him, but can't make him stay.  Instead she starts up her on and off again relationship with Cooper, the famous football player.  She wants to love him like he loves her, but knows she can't.  She's still thinking about Mason.

Four months after he leaves, he's back in her life.  He's on a mission to solve the murders of fighters; one of the being a close friend.  The last thing he wants is to fight again, but knows that to get the people responsible, he has to.

When he realizes that Claire is going to help him, he wants her to leave, but once he knows the truth about her past, he needs her to get into the one place that could be the answer.  Little do they both know the path it will take them on.

I have to say... the sex scenes in this book were pretty intense... just a warning for you guys out there!!  I loved Mason completely!  He's rough around the edges, but you know he's a good guy and a great cop.  He will stop at nothing to get the men who murdered the fighters.

I would have liked to read more in Mason's POV, but other then I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!  Mason will do anything to protect Claire, and he isn't expecting the lengths people will go to get her in the middle of the chaos.

There is one fighter in the book... Chase Benfield... that guy is pure EVIL!!  With a deluded axe to grind with Mason about something that happened in the past, he makes it known that he would nothing more then to get Mason back.  It doesn't matter how bad it would be...

As I said, I loved this book!  I loved Claire!  She knew how to stand up for herself, and knew how to manage Mason and his brooding moods!!

Excerpt
The door to the arena room was open, and the moment we stepped in Claire gasped and I stared, wide-eyed at all the people. "Holy shit," I breathed in awe. "It's packed."
Every single chair around the cage was occupied and there were people standing around everywhere. There were two guys already in the cage battling it out, except they looked to be part of the Lightweight division. When I fought several years ago, I was competing for the Heavyweight title. If they did fights in order of division then I would be going up there last."Hey, guys," Tyler exclaimed, carrying a beer in his hands.
Disapprovingly, I glared at the beer and then back up to him. "You should know better than to get drunk before a fight. It makes you sloppy," I scolded him.
I really didn't care either way what he did, but I knew better than to drink when I had to compete. Tyler chugged his beer and threw his cup in the trash a little too roughly.
"I do know better than to drink when I have to fight, but unfortunately, I'm not fighting tonight," he announced.
"Wait, what?" Claire cut in. "What do you mean you're not fighting? If you're not the one fighting Mason then who is?"
Tyler glanced around the room with narrowed eyes until he found the person I was to fight and pointed to him. "That's the guy over there with the blue mohawk. I think you might know him. He said he owed you for something you did a long time ago. Care to explain," Tyler inquired curiously.
Following the direction of Ty's pointed finger, I groaned when I saw the guy with the blue mohawk. Fuck, I knew who he was, or better yet, I knew his wife ... very well.
"What is it Mason?" Claire asked worriedly. "Who is he?"
His name was Chase Benfield and I did the unthinkable by fucking his wife. Blowing out a frustrated breath, I lowered my head and began to explain, "Do you remember when I mentioned I had a dark past?"
"Yeah," she said, drawling out the word. "Let me guess, you fought him back in the day?"
I nodded. "Yes, but that wasn't just it." I didn't want to tell her what I did because I was ashamed of the way I acted and the way I did things. I was sure she would understand, hopefully, but I didn't want her thinking less of me.
Claire let go of my hand and crossed her arms over her chest defiantly. "Dammit, just tell me already. You did this same shit to me when I was keeping something from you."
"Fine," I gave in, "but I need you to know it was a long time ago and it was before I even met you. I was stupid and did lots of stupid things that I shouldn't have."
She rolled her eyes. "Let me guess, you slept with his girlfriend," she guessed blandly.
Sighing, I regretfully nodded my head and waited for the angry words to come spewing out of her mouth. Instead, she said, "So, what's the big deal? You slept with her. That shit happens all the time. Why would he be angry about that still?"
"Well," I began, "it was actually his wife and I hooked up with her in my prepping room during his fight for a spot at the Heavyweight title. His trainer had come looking for her and found us. Needless to say, word got back to Chase awfully fast."
Claire groaned and hung her head. "Oh, hell, this isn't going to be good." Chase finally spotted me from across the room and snarled his lip. No, I thought to myself, this definitely wasn't going to be good.
