BOOK BLURB / SYNOPSIS
Nathaniel Spencer, the Fourteenth Duke of Kirkbourne wakes up with an almighty hangover and a wager note in his pocket stating he has agreed to marry the Earl of Brackingham’s daughter. And he can’t even remember ever meeting the chit. Clearly his drinking has got out of hand.
Lady Sarah Steele is horrified when her father announces that the Duke of Kirkbourne has agreed to marry her and even more horrified that her father wagered her hand in a game of cards. Not only that, but the earl has not told the duke of the riding accident that left Sarah paralysed when she was sixteen. But he’s dying and she knows he wants to see her settled before the inevitable happens.
Despite Nate’s drinking and Sarah’s possible complicity in the earl’s plan, they agree to marry. But when accidents start to happen, the newly-weds must deal not only with the fact they are practically strangers, but they must find out who is trying to kill one or both of them. Nate’s drink problem and Sarah’s disability are only a couple of the hurdles they must face to find lasting love.

CHARACTER BIOS:

Nate:
Nathaniel Spencer, 14th Duke of Kirkbourne, is the only son of the late Duke of Kirkbourne and his now widow. Nathaniel had a younger sister who died of a fever around the time Nate’s father died.

Nate is a typical member of the early 19th century aristocracy, dividing his time between London during the Season and his country estate near Bath. He enjoys the usual pursuits of young gentlemen including fencing, drinking and gambling.
A few years ago, Nate also enjoyed racing his curricle but all that ended with the tragic death of his friend Crosby in a curricle race which Nate was winning. Nate is unable to put the tragedy behind him and it is through the haze of alcohol which he uses to numb the pain that he wagers for the hand of Lady Sarah Steele, the daughter of the dying Earl of Brackingham.

Sarah:
Lady Sarah Steele is the only daughter of the Earl of Brackingham and his late wife.

When Sarah was sixteen years old, she fell from a horse when it refused a jump and broke her spine. Since then she has had little movement below her waist and no feeling from mid-thigh. Sarah has accepted her lot in life and understands why she could never have had a season like other young ladies. Stuck at home, Sarah is reliant on her father for company and for her care. But the Earl is dying and won’t be able to care for her much longer.

When the Earl wagers her hand in a card game with a drunken Duke, Sarah knows her life can never be the same again.

THE INTERVIEW

How long have you been writing?
I have been writing since 2011. I started off writing Star Trek fan fiction for my friends, then moved onto contemporary and sci fi books (under a different pen name), then settled on Regency

What or who inspires you to write?
My imagination. My mum always used to say I have too active an imagination. So now I put it to good use.

What genre do you like to read?
Regency/ Victorian Romance. I also love erotic menage and chick lit

What is your favorite genre to write?
Regency romance but I also love sci fi romance and contemporary.

Who is your favorite author and why?
I'm torn between saying Mary Balogh and Lynsay Sands. I love Lynsay’s take on vampires and adore her Argeneau/Rogue Hunter series but Mary is the queen of Regency in my opinion. I know that’s controversial as most people would say Georgette Heyer. But Mary manages to keep her books acceptable to modern reads but steeped well enough in the period that you feel you are there.
What do you love about writing and why?
Writing is a great outlet for me. It allows me to explore the romantic in me. Life has made me a bit jaded when it comes to real romance but there is nothing like creating a rich handsome Duke and making him into the perfect boyfriend.

What is the book about?
Sarah is a 26 year old daughter of an Earl. She broke her back when she was 16 and as a result is not part of society. Her father is dying so he finds a Duke he trusts, gets him drunk and wagers her hand in marriage to him. Nathaniel (Nate) – Duke of Kirkbourne is too honourable to welch on the wager so he agrees to marry Sarah. But he has an alcohol problem and they have to navigate an arranged marriage and his demons while trying to find out who is trying to kill one or both of them.

What or who was the inspiration for the book?
No one in particular. I am always fascinated how people manage to overcome disabilities, no matter what their circumstances.

Who are the characters in the book?
Nate, the Duke of Kirkbourne who is sexy and grumpy and completely adorable and Lady Sarah, a beautiful and clever young lady who has been dealt a rather rubbish hand in life until she meets Nate.

If you could have five authors, over for dinner, alive or dead, who would they be and why?
JK Rowling – I love her imagination. She is an inspiration to me. I was in the same theatre as her a few months ago and I was so excited just to be in the same building as she was.
Mary Balogh – For reasons described above.
Jane Austen – Pretty obvious why. I would want to pick her brains about the time she lived in.
Jeffrey Archer – I loved his books when I was a teenager. I love political intrigue
Em Petrova – I have two best friends in the writing world, Samantha Holt and Em Petrova. I’ve met Sam because we both live in the UK and now I want to meet Em. I love her books and her imagination and her scorchingly hot heroes. I would sneak Sam in too though when you weren’t watching.

EXCERPT
Nathaniel Spencer, fourteenth Duke of Kirkbourne groaned and rolled over in bed. A tattoo beat a steady rhythm inside his skull, his stomach was bilious and the world spun at an alarming rate. Last night he had been in his cups—again. He knew he should take a more moderate attitude to alcohol but recently, staying sober had seemed somewhat pointless. Why stay sober if you were just going to end up dead at the side of the road—another silly young buck who had killed himself in a curricle race? Damn Crosby! Why had he made the damned challenge? Nathaniel, or Nate as he preferred to be called, would never forget Crosby’s lifeless eyes staring up at him, or the crack of the pistol as a bystander put his horses out of their misery. And he would never forgive himself for being the man whom Crosby was racing. Nate closed his eyes and willed his stomach to stop churning as he tried to recall the events of the night before. He had been at White’s for dinner and had moved to the card room. The brandy had been flowing, and Ormsby had suggested moving on to a less reputable gaming hell. He remembered the Earl of Brackingham tagging along for some reason that defied Nate. He had no issue with Brackingham, but the earl was at least twenty years the senior of everyone else in their party. He had been coughing somewhat alarmingly, Nate recalled. He hoped the old man was not spreading disease around. The last thing Nate needed was to be laid up in bed—his mother fussing around him and pouring vile-tasting concoctions down his throat. There was another thing that took many young, seemingly healthy lives—fever. Curricles and fever—good reasons to get absolutely foxed if ever he needed any. Brackingham! The name seemed to be prodding his tired and very painful brain—waiting for him to remember something significant from last night. He had a vague memory of playing vingt et un with him. There had been a ludicrous bet. Brackingham wagered his daughter’s hand and if Nate lost, he would have to marry the girl. Nate had been on a winning streak. Bravado and alcohol made him foolish. He had a three and a queen. He sat up as the king of diamonds flashed before his eyes. God, damn it. The king of diamonds took him to twenty-three. His head swum and he tamped down the urge to cast up his accounts. Twenty-three. But surely a wager like that was a joke. It had to be. Brackingham did not expect him to marry his chit of a daughter, did he? Had he even set eyes on the girl before? Again, some piece of information about the girl needled his brain. He had no recollection of dancing with her at balls. But then he hardly ever danced at balls. He had no plans to seek a leg-shackle on the marriage mart, so he steered clear and spent most of the evening in the card room. God, he hoped she was at least old enough to have had her come out and this was not some medieval plan to marry a thirteen-year-old off to him. Eighteen was quite young enough—too young in his rather jaded opinion. But no. He had no recollection of ever having set eyes on Lady… Lady what? He had no idea. He fished in the pocket of his waistcoat, which he still wore, having obviously been so foxed when he had returned that he had either shooed his valet away or he had arrived so late the valet had been asleep. There was a note. A wager. He hoped he owed the man a vast fortune instead. Marry Lady Sarah Steele. Dowry - £10,000. Meet Brackingham on 5th day of March to make arrangements. Today must be the fifth of March. Yesterday had definitely been the fourth. Christ, he had to see if this was a big joke or, if not, was there any way he could inveigle his way out of it. He had no plans to marry. None at all. And that was that.

MY REVIEW

I was a little unsure of reading this series, because I don't normally read Fantasy books.  I have said this before, but I LOVE when a book surprises me!

This book starts out with a demand that goes unanswered.  King Waldrum wants the Queen of Crato and wants one of her twin boys for his own.  Determined to keep her boys safe, Lilia keeps this demand to herself, which causes her husband King Theodric to think she decieved him, once he finds out.

When the Peace Summit takes place, King Waldrum comes with ulterior motives.  He has plans for one of the princes, and the plans aren't good.  He has given his life to the dark lord Sidramah, and wants to raise one of the twins to learn the dark magic.

Joachim and Brandan are very different boys.  Even though they are twins, Joa sees the good in people, and believes in the powers of Asha.  Brandan, on the other hand, believes that Asha doesn't exsist.  Why should they wait for someone that doesn't exist when magic can cure everything and make everything easier.  He also believes things should be given to him because he's the prince, and that his twin brother is favored by his father.

When Joa is kidnapped by King Waldrum to get back at the Queen, Brandan is angry his father will not let him help find him.  Not understanding that his father wants to keep him safe, he sets out anyway to help get his father back.

This is where the story really begins.  Once Waldrum finds out that Joa is not Brandan like he expected, he is angry, but doesn't allow that to deter him.  He wants to turn one of the boys evil, but he doesn't realize the determination of Joachim to not follow the darkness.  As hard as it is, he fights to stay true to himself and parents.  It's a struggle that he fights with even after escaping.

What he doesn't expect is the betrayal of his brother.  He thought, once they were reunited they would go back home, but his mother makes a decision that makes it impossible.  It doesn't help matters that Brandon has joined with the enemy.

While in Waldrum's custody, Joa starts having visions, and one of them is him killing his father.  For awhile, he believes it really happened, but soon realizes it just something Sidramah wanted him to think. Once he escapes, he is reunited with his father, but it doesn't go the way he expected it to go.  It changes his life, and puts it on a course that will change him before he's ready.

As I said, I was unsure about how I would feel about this book.  It reminded me a bit of Lord of the Rings, although, I haven't read that series... yet!!

I loved this book, and I was glued to it for about a day!  Joachim didn't want to think his brother was evil and would betray him, and up until the end believed it was the dark lord at work.  He was always loyal to his twin, even though Brandon made it difficult for him.

I didn't like Brandan, because he seemed hellbent on setting up Joa to fail.  Everytime his brother was slightly happy, he would say or do something to make him doubt himself.  There were times he was under an evil influence, but not all of it was said because of Sidramah.

I loved Joachim, and you knew he was inherently good.  No matter how much the visions tried to take over him, he always had the sense to not give to the evil.  He did struggle, but there people around him who sure he came back to reality.

BOOK EXCERPT
Then his gaze fell on Waldrom. Here was the man, so smug and condescending, who sought to destroy Crato and threatened his parents. He didn’t seem the least bit imposing reclining upon his throne. Disgust overwhelmed the prince, and it was all he could do not to spit on the floor. The man was the antithesis of his father, who, with his broad shoulders and compassionate demeanor, commanded the respect of all who knew him. The king rose from the throne and waved for the guard to bring Joachim forward. “Prince Brandan, I presume. I’m King Waldrom.” “Prince Brandan? No, I’m Joachim.” Waldrom stepped back, and Joachim saw the fire burning in his eyes. “What do you mean, you’re not Prince Brandan?” Waldrom looked at the guard holding Joachim and waved his hand. A candelabrum flew from the wall, hitting the guard and igniting his beard. The guard swatted wildly at the flames while Waldrom advanced on Melvane, standing by the door. “How could you grab the wrong prince?” The wizard dropped to his knees. “My Lord, our spies told us Prince Brandan would be in the training room.

Palace of the Twelve Pillars: Book One

Character Bios:

King Theodric:  He is king of Crato. Born and raised in the Palace of the Twelve Pillars in the royal city of Wyrzburg. He was schooled in the neighboring country of Mahorg. His father the king died when he was only fifteen years of age and he was called back to Crato to assume rule of the country.

King Waldrom: He is king of Mahorg. Born and raised in Mahorg. He suffered from Evil Fire when he was a child and lost a finger on his left hand as a side effect from the illness. Waldrom attended school with Theodric until he cheated on some tests and was forbidden to do magic and banished from Mahorg. After Theodric’s marriage to Waldrom’s cousin and woman that he loves he returns to his country and stages a coup, unseating and killing his own father. He then assumes the kingship of Mahorg and with the evil magic of Sidramah begins harassing Crato. He allies himself with Mantion cave dwelling people and the Wizard Melvane.

Queen Lilia: She is Queen of Crato and wife to Theodric. She is also cousin to Waldrom. She was born in Mahorg and attended school with Theodric and Waldrom. She fell in love with Theodric and they married not long after his father died.
The three of them Theodric, Waldrom and Lilia were best friends until Theodric and Lilia announced their love for each other. Then Waldrom feeling the rejected suitor swears he will have Lilia. His drunken ranting and brawling get him thrown out of the wedding of Theodric and Lilia. The pair goes on to live their lives unaware that Waldrom has sworn he will have Lilia or he will destroy anyone who gets in his way.

Prince Brandan: Son of Lilia and Theodric. Although the blonde, handsome he is really the dark, moody son.  He does not do well in his studies of the “Annals of Time” or the magic of Asha. He feels limited by the rules of magic and constantly rebels against his teachers and other adults of influence especially his father. He both resents and loves his twin brother. He is willing to put his life on the line for his brother but only on his own terms and after he has taken care of himself. Next to his brother the only people he feels any connection to are his mother and his teacher Adept Croifan. But since Croifan is a Kningrad Brandan sees him as a lesser being and often disparages the master. Although at times the teacher is able to instill a little bit of fear into the prince it does not happen very often. He will set out with the intention of rescuing his brother, but ultimately betrays him because the grass looks greener on the other side in Waldrom’s camp.

Prince Joachim: Son of Lilia and Theodric, twin brother to Brandan. His dark complexion and subtle good looks would make one think he was the evil twin. However Joachim is the more studious and obedient of the pair. He excels in everything he undertakes, especially the magic of Asha.
Even though parents are not supposed to have favorites, Joachim shares a special bond with his father the king and it appears as if he is the favored son. Joachim also feels a very deep bond with his twin. It is so intense that he will do anything for his brother including taking on a punishment that he did not deserve. Perhaps his greatest fault is his loyalty to his brother. He hopes that one day Brandan will be reformed and is confused by his brother’s behavior.

Joachim is maybe too good for his own good. When he imagines he has done wrong he blames and punishes himself and that could be his undoing, as he lets evil forces into his psyche. He is his own worst critic and that might not bode well for him when he faces the trials of being kidnapped and betrayed.

MY REVIEW

Wow.... that's what I have to say about this book!  Brandan and Joachim return home as Kings. Joachim is the King of Crato, and Brandon the King Mahorg.

Where as the first book they were boys of fifteen, they are now men and faced with issues they aren't prepared to face.  Joachim is to get married to Maeve, who is daughter to the Kningrad King eyvindur. Brandan doesn't agree to the joining, believe it should be him that she marry.  Stating that Joachim isn't ready for marriage, but it falls on deaf ears.

Although his brother has been taken away from the evil, and has been to the Cave of Njori to speak with the God Asha, Joa is still concern his brother still has evil thoughts.  He hates that there is a rift between his brother, and tries to get back the relationship they once had.  Brandan makes it difficult for him to do that though.

Maeve, proves to be a good wife for Joachim, but doesn't allow to him to berate himself too much about his brother.  She knows how Brandan is, and hates that he makes Joa feel inferior.  When her husband is injured at a tavern, she knows that the twin is responsible.  When Brandan blames Joa for his injuries, she knows he is responsible.  Brandan doesn't blame himself for anything, and will blame anyone else but himself.

Joa, because of this accident, uses the use of his right arm.  It doesn't stop him from ruling his kingdom.  He is loved and respected, and he isn't prepared for the hostility of his brother.

Also, there is a woman who has shown some interest in Brandan.  Magda is suddenly at his side, and no one at the palace trusts her.  They don't know who she is or why she is showing a sudden interest in the young king.

Little do they know, someone from Brandan's past is determined to make the Palace of Three Crosses his own.  He has set up a plan that is fool proof and it works in his benefit.

Waldrum is still alive and escapes his confinement.  He wants Lilia back, and wants the twins dead.  He knows with their death and the death of their mother, he can get back into the good graces of Sidramah.

This book was just as good as the first one, but it was also heartbreaking.  Joachim and Maeve suffer a loss that almost ends her life, and causes Joa to almost lose hope.  He questions his faith to Asha and realizes his love for his wife is absolute.  He would do anything for her, and he knows he can't lose her.
What he doesn't expect is the determination of his brother to make his life that much harder.  His brother knows Joa is surrounded by people he trusts and will protect him, and goes about taking them away.  He has plans for his brother, and they aren't good.  Joa, again, doesn't to believe his brother would betray him, and is in a lot of denial.  There were times I wanted to shake him regarding his brother, but it was who he was.  He was a good man who didn't want to see the evil in his brother. Even though he struggled with Sidramah himself, he didn't want to admit that his brother would fall for whatever the dark lord had to offer.

Like book one, this book had me right from the start!  I loved it, and I can't wait to read book three. From reading the blurb, it's going to be just as good as the first two!!

Palace of the Three Crosses: Book Two
Character Bios:
In Book Two Brandan and Joachim return along with a few new characters to continue their journey and battle of good and evil.

King Brandan: At the end of Book One we saw Palace of the Twelve Pillars we saw Brandan go to King Waldrom and be crowned King of Crato. At the end of the book he is betrayed by those he thought were his allies. His brother Joachim rescues him from near death, but Brandan is not convinced of his brother’s good intentions and is still in the thrall of Sidramah.
The twins return to Crato and Brandan is crowned King of Mahorg. A couple of Mantion spies
Brandan has not completely returned to the good side. He is cold and unreachable. After the coronation he leaves Wyrzburg and travels to Dun Dealgan. Magical and feminine wiles assault him he succumbs to the magical and feminine wiles of a Mantion princess and soon comes to despise his brother and all that his brother represents. He is also fully in the thrall of Sidramah at this point and continues Waldrom’s vendetta against Crato. When Joachim marries a Kningrad princess, Brandan’s anger is fueled and he travels deeper into the web of Sidramah.

King Joachim: Joachim is the reluctant king of Crato. He was crowned and thrown into a battle when he was unprepared and now he must try to rule the country that his brother seems to want to destroy. In spite of his brother’s actions he still hopes that they can share a bond of love and rule their respective countries in peace. He marries a Kningrad princess and childhood friend.
Brandan’s betrayal along with the death of their father and the disappearance of his mother plants seeds of doubt in Joachim that he will struggle to overcome as he attempts to rule Crato. When he is injured and loses the use of his right arm, he is pushed closer to the edge of his sanity.

Princess Gudrun/Lady Magda: She is the daughter to King Shigeo of the Mantion and sworn enemies to humans, especially Cratonites. Her people share an uneasy alliance with Mahorg but believe they should be the ones in control, not Brandan. To that end Melvane and Shigeo hatch a plan in which Princess Gudrun will magic herself to look like a human female. Then they will infiltrate the Palace of the Twelve Pillars in the guise of a noblewoman visiting for the coronation and royal wedding. Once inside the palace she will work her powerful evil magic on the humans especially Brandan.
Gudrun is a reluctant participant in her father’s plan. Her true love is the Wizard Melvane, and she longs for the day when she can get rid of his wife and children and become his wife. She resents her father for asking her to do this. The anger feeds the evil and adds to the extremes she will go to get
what she wants. And she will not stop short of anything including sacrifice and death of innocents.

Princess Maeve:  She is daughter to King Eyvindur of the Kningrad. The Kningrad have long been allies and friends to Crato. At birth King Eyvindur and King Theodric promised to wed their children and strengthen the alliance between Crato and Imherp the Kningrad nation. Maeve is totally dedicated to the alliance between the two countries and will willingly marry whichever prince is chosen for her, although she secretly hopes it will be Joachim. As Joachim begins continues his slide to insanity she will stand by his side. She is a fierce warrior and a passable adept. She is a strong ruler and the people of Crato come to love her in spite of the fact that she is not human.  She even supports her husband’s loyalty to his brother even though she doubts that Brandan has any good intentions left.

BOOK EXCERPT
Rupert looked through the window in his tower room at the landscape of Wyrzburg. Months had passed since the Battle of Harable Valley and the spring planting season faded into the wonderful summer growing season. The land progressed in its healing and would soon be returned to its former state. As he turned from the window, he thought about the things that hadn’t healed…the twins. Brandan and Joachim still had a long way to go to erase the darkness that infected them. Joachim seemed better, but at night he still dreamed of Sidramah, and the doubts about what happened still haunted him. Brandan appeared even further from the boy that left to find his brother. The darkness appeared to follow him day and night. He withdrew to chambers as far away from Joachim as he could get. Walking down the stairs to the great hall, Rupert remembered when the princes first returned; both had seemed healed and better than ever, maybe. But it appeared as if the tentacles of Sidramah still lingered. Any small opening the evil one could find, he exploited, and both boys were once again haunted by dark dreams.

“I have sent one who can save them, but he can also bring about their final destruction. “You, my Guardians, must seek him out. Protect him and ensure he is guided on the right paths.” Alorn lifted his great ruby-red head. “Tell us who is he, Lord, that we may fulfill Your wishes.” “I cannot reveal his identity…yet. Just know there are three who need you now. My power will be seen in all, but only one will be the savior in the end. However, all are needed to bring My Will about, and they must all be protected and nurtured.” “How will we know them?” Stefano leaned forward. “All will be children of Brandan or Joachim, and they will blend the lineage of the three races.” “We know of Joachim’s children, but Brandan has none.” “He has one, a half Mantion-half human child. Gorou is the third, and he will be the hardest to protect and nurture.” “Why a child of Brandan?” Cielo asked. “Brandan has already chosen the path of evil time and again. Would not a child of his be exposed to that same evil?” “Although, he fathered the child, Brandan knows not of his existence.

Most of the time he does not let the fact that he is picked on bother him. But he will jump to Aaron’s aid if he sees that Aaron is being pushed too far. He may appear cowardly and wimpy but behind that mask is a fighter and loyal friend.

Interview with Author LP Dover, and Review of Trusting You and Meant for Me!!!

Love’s Second Chance
Synopsis
Korinne Anders had it all. She had the perfect job, the perfect house, and the perfect husband. When tragedy strikes, her world takes a devastating turn. Six months after losing her husband to a car accident, Korinne vows it to herself never to love again. If she doesn’t allow another man in her heart, then there’s no reason for her to feel the pain of loss. This plan seems to work, but is put to the test when Korinne’s best friend can’t stand to see her suffering any longer.

Korinne’s long-time friend, Jenna Perry, has an idea and it involves helping her friend find the spark of life in her soul no matter what it takes. Korinne didn’t know that Jenna’s plan meant bringing back a past love, a second chance with the man that Korinne had to leave in college, but always kept a place for in her heart.

When Galen Matthews learns of Korinne’s loss and that she’s finally moved back home, he wants nothing more than to be there for her. The love he felt for Korinne years ago has never left him, and now he’s given a second chance to not only mend her heart of her loss, but to also continue the love they shared in the past. Will his love and determination make her strong enough to give fate a second chance, or will her fear of losing another love make her run away?

What will Korinne do when she’s faced with a love so powerful that no matter what she does there’s nowhere to run from it?

Excerpt
With each determined step, I made my way over to the man that was beginning to steal my heart … again. Fear and desire coincided within me, but I couldn’t stop. I knew I shouldn’t let him in, but I couldn’t deny the way my heart was beating for this man. It was as if all of my desires, all of the pent up emotions and feelings in my body had me desperate for this man’s touch, Galen’s touch. The man I fell in love with years ago. His eyes grew wider the closer I got, but I knew I wasn’t going to back down. I needed to feel him in every way possible, and I needed it then. In one swift move I crushed my lips to his and wrapped my arms around his neck, holding him tight. His arms engulfed me, protecting me in his embrace, but also unsure of what to do.
“What are you doing?” he groaned, breaking away from the kiss. “I thought you wanted to take things slow.”
A fire so hot burned behind those pale blue eyes of his, and I knew taking things slow wasn’t going to happen. “I don’t think I can,” I breathed against his lips.
“Please don’t say that. I don’t think I can control myself if you let me in. I’ve wanted you from the moment I saw you, and it’s already hard enough to keep my distance.”
“I don’t want you to keep your distance.” I sighed. “I need you, Galen, and I need you now.” Those words were all it took for the fire to consume him, to consume us both.

Taking a deep breath, I turned around to face him with his hands still holding onto my arms. “Are you asking me on another date?” I asked, teasing him.
He smirked, a slow tilting of his lip that had me aching to bite it. “That’s up to you if that’s what you want to call it,” he murmured heatedly.
“What if I do want to call it that?” I asked boldly.
Alec pinned me up against the counter and placed his arms on both sides of me, locking me in to the confines of his body. His piercing blue gaze held me captive, and I was drowning, struggling to breathe as he moved closer.
Bending low, he continued his torturous teasing by breathing across my neck. My eyes fluttered closed as his lips connected with the tender flesh at my collarbone. I shivered as the chill bumps fanned across my skin and made me weak. His voice in my ear immediately counteracted the chills. “If you want to call this dating, then I think that usually requires a little bit of touching, does it not?”
My breathing accelerated as Alec’s body grew flush with mine, leaning dangerously against me. He tilted my head back slightly so I had to look into his face. Slowly, I placed my hands on his hips, and instead of touching the waist of his jeans I was met with the bare skin of his body where his shirt had lifted up.
Holy shit, his skin felt hot! I could feel the ridges on his sides where they disappeared beneath his jeans, and I wanted nothing more than to trail my tongue down the contours of his muscles.
With hooded eyes, and a raspy, breathless voice, I replied, “I’m sure it’s customary to withstand some touching, but not too much since I don’t know you very well.” I said it, but my body didn’t really mean it, and he could tell I was lying to myself.
Slowly, he brought his hand to my face and trailed one of his long, lithe fingers over my cheek and down my neck. “Like this,” he insisted, swirling his finger around my neck. “Is this the kind of touching we’re allowed to do?” Chill bumps exploded across my skin, making me shiver.
“Yes,” I breathed, relishing in the feel of his touch. “Just like that.”
Closing my eyes, I sighed as he trailed his finger further down, stopping at my navel. The heat of his breath fanned across my face as I felt him dipping lower. I didn’t dare open my eyes and risk breaking the connection, but I wanted to see the heat in his gaze. Ever so slowly, his mouth connected with mine, soft and confident. He lingered for a moment, not moving, just his lips touched lightly to mine.
I wanted more … a lot more.

THE REVIEW:
First... I'm going to say this... if I EVER have the chance to have a one night stand... it is going to be with someone like Brett... MY GOD!!!!  Not that like that will ever happen, since I'm married, but I can always dream!!

Ever since catching her husband in bed with another woman, Melissa Ashford has had issues with trusting men.  When she has the one night stand with Brett, she can't stop thinking about him, but knows he's a playboy.  The last thing she needs in her life is another player.

When she is reunited with him at a party, Brett Walker makes it known he wants to continue where they left off.  He doesn't care what he has to do to get her back in his bed.

Unsure, she takes a chance, knowing he'll prove her right at some point.  She doesn't expect him to be such a nice, easy-going guy.  He's great in bed and gorgeous, and he only has eyes for him.  To complicate things, her ex-husband Daniel wants back in her life.  She tells him to leave her alone, but he's determined.  She doesn't realize how determined.

Imagine her surprise when Daniel is Brett's new client, for an architectural contract.  Once she sees him, she knows he's up to something.  She doesn't know what, but she makes her mission to find out. With the help of her cousin Mason The Cop, they find out the truth... and it's a whopper.

Once Daniel finds out that she knows the truth, a series of events almost causes her life.  She's terrified, and is scared of never seeing Brett again.  Also, she didn't her ex could be that ruthless!

I loved this book!!  I loved Melissa, and understand her being leary of Brett at first.  She's cautious, but once she gets to know him, she's happy she took the chance.

Now... Brett.... one word... SWOON!!  That man is any woman's dream!!  Once he's been with Melissa, he can't focus on anyone else.  He wants her back, and will do anything to prove that he isn't who she thinks he is.  Once he meets her ex, he hates him, but knows he has to tolerate him for the upcoming job.  When he finds out the truth about what's happening, and realizes Melissa is in danger, he will stop at nothing to protect her.

I love reading Leslie's book... they are the perfect escape for me.  Plus, I love her men... totally swoon worthy!!

THE EXCERPT:
Prologue
Three Months Ago

A night at the bar, several tequila sunrises, and a gorgeous guy staring at me from across the room … how could I resist? Talking became flirting, flirting became touching, and then the touching led me to where I was now.
There were only a couple more hours until the first rays of sunshine would alert the coming of dawn. I was angry with myself for letting things go too far with the man sleeping soundly off to my side. How could I be so stupid yet love everything I did?
Sleeping with random men was not something I would ever do, and definitely not something I should be doing now. I was twenty-eight years old and already divorced from my college love, who made the mistake of sleeping with our whore of a neighbor. She’d spread her legs for anyone. Daniel just couldn’t resist, and of course I couldn’t resist divorcing him when he begged me to give him another chance. Marrying him was a mistake, and I couldn’t believe I was stupid enough to think he would stay faithful. After all, I had known of his reputation as a wealthy playboy. He pursued me with a vengeance and I fell hard. Shame on me once, never twice.
After our divorce was final, my friends decided it was time I celebrated … and boy did I celebrate. We went out to bars every weekend and I dated many different men, which soon became tiring; they were either too wrapped up in themselves or complete douche bags. I had yet to find a man that was completely interested in who I was, and took the time to put my needs first. At least, until my gaze met the handsome stranger’s from across the room of the bar whose bed I now occupied.
My lover for the evening had drifted off to sleep not long after we spent the night rolling around the sheets. Even though he was a one night stand, he sure knew every way possible to make my body scream for his touch; it was intoxicating. It shocked me, but I indulged in the reckless fun for that short amount of time. I felt more wanted and desired in those hours of sex than I had the entire time I was married.
My ex was a good lover, but nothing compared to the passion and heat of the man off to my right. He was sleeping on his stomach, the naked flesh of his back exposed to the moonlight drifting in through the window. His muscled arm was curled under his pillow and his breathing was light and relaxed … so peaceful, and perfect. Even in his sleep he was one of the most handsome men I’d ever laid eyes on.
No, I scolded silently to myself. He may appear perfect, but I knew better than to fall into the trap of good looks and a charming smile. I will not be fooled again.
Slowly slipping out of bed, I gathered up my clothes that were strewn on the floor and quietly put them on, trying my best not to make any sound. I ran my fingers through my auburn waves, but gave up when all I felt were knots. It was going to be a bitch to brush out when I got home.
Before I snuck out of the bedroom, I took one last look at the man who had been the most aggressive and passionate lover I’d ever had. His dark, tousled hair was mussed up from my relentless tugging, and his closed eyes hid the sparkling gray color that glowed the entire time he ravished my body.
I must say … I didn’t regret what had happened with this man, and if I had the chance I’d probably do it again. He lived in a swanky condo in downtown Charlotte which I knew had to cost a fortune. Then again, my experience with wealthy men was tainted by my ex-husband … although, this man was nothing like my ex. It was clear he had money, but he never gloated about it when we talked at the bar. It was refreshing to talk to a man who was confident enough not to brag about himself the whole night.
However, no one was perfect and I knew he had to be far from it.
Shutting the bedroom door with a quiet click, I grabbed my purse off of the kitchen table and started to tiptoe to the front door, but stopped. Pulling out a piece of paper in my purse, I scribbled my number on it and laid it on the kitchen table. What am I doing?
I stared at the paper lying there and immediately thought of one word … desperate. And desperate was something I was not. Snatching the paper off of the table, I crumpled it in my hand. The guy was probably a player just like all the other men I’d come across. What made him so special that I’d give in and lower my guard?
Nothing, my mind screamed at me.
Jamming the crinkled paper into my purse, I tiptoed quietly to the front door and slipped out silently. There was one thing for certain, and my heart hated me for it. I wasn’t going to forget what happened tonight or the lover that made me orgasm more times in just a few hours than I had in the past year. The ache between my legs was going to remind me for the next couple of days what went on during this raging night of passion. As I sauntered into the elevator, my body screamed for me to go back. It wanted me to indulge in another round of a sex induced high with the man that had me panting for him like no other.
Except, I couldn’t go back … my heart wouldn’t let me.

THE REVIEW:

OMG... Leslie... you're going to be the death of me... I found another book boyfriend in Mason...

When I first met Mason in the book above, I loved him!  I thought he was great!!!  I didn't know his past, but once I found out what it was.. wow... he's smexy!  Another SWOON!!!!!

When he decides to leave Claire O'Briene to go back home to North Caroline, he knows it's the biggest mistake of his life.  He has his reasons though...

Claire is heartbroken and rightfully pissed when he leaves.  She loves him, but can't make him stay.  Instead she starts up her on and off again relationship with Cooper, the famous football player.  She wants to love him like he loves her, but knows she can't.  She's still thinking about Mason.

Four months after he leaves, he's back in her life.  He's on a mission to solve the murders of fighters; one of the being a close friend.  The last thing he wants is to fight again, but knows that to get the people responsible, he has to.

When he realizes that Claire is going to help him, he wants her to leave, but once he knows the truth about her past, he needs her to get into the one place that could be the answer.  Little do they both know the path it will take them on.

I have to say... the sex scenes in this book were pretty intense... just a warning for you guys out there!!  I loved Mason completely!  He's rough around the edges, but you know he's a good guy and a great cop.  He will stop at nothing to get the men who murdered the fighters.

I would have liked to read more in Mason's POV, but other then I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!  Mason will do anything to protect Claire, and he isn't expecting the lengths people will go to get her in the middle of the chaos.

There is one fighter in the book... Chase Benfield... that guy is pure EVIL!!  With a deluded axe to grind with Mason about something that happened in the past, he makes it known that he would nothing more then to get Mason back.  It doesn't matter how bad it would be...

As I said, I loved this book!  I loved Claire!  She knew how to stand up for herself, and knew how to manage Mason and his brooding moods!!

THE EXCERPT:
Chapter Four
Mason

I didn’t realize how much she despised me until the moment I stepped into the doorway and Claire saw me, and I saw the outright venom in her eyes. From that look alone I knew she wouldn’t take me back, but it wasn’t going to stop me from trying. I came here for a reason and I’m not leaving until I do what I told myself I was going to do. I was going to put everything on the line.
As I watched Claire turn her back on me and walk away, I had the deepest urge to handcuff her to a chair and make her listen to me. However, forcing her would only push her away even more. When I handcuffed her to anything it would be out of mere pleasure, not anger. I was determined to get her back. Rushing out of the house, I grabbed Claire’s arm before she could go any further and turned her to face me.
“Let me go, Mason,” she ordered through clenched teeth.
Her body was coiled tighter than a snake, but when I grabbed her other arm and pulled her closer, I could feel the tension in her muscles loosen and she noticed it, too. I wanted to kiss those lips of hers that tasted sweet like honey with the hint of raspberries, and feel her bare skin on my fingers. Seeing her now only reminded me of how stupid I had been to let her go, and now it was too late. Or was it?
“Please give me this chance, Claire,” I murmured in her ear. “There are so many things I need to tell you. I know you’ve moved on to someone else, and it’s kind of obvious with his name plastered all over your body, but I can’t leave here without telling you how I feel.” I paused and took a deep breath. “I’ve missed you, Claire. I missed you the moment you drove away from me at the airport four months ago.”
“Why are you doing this now?” she asked incredulously, pulling her arms out of my grasp and crossing them over her chest.
She stepped back, one small step after another, and the further she moved away the further I could feel her slipping away. A tear slid down her cheek and she wiped it away, whispering, “Things are finally going good for me, Mason. I can’t have you screwing that up.”
Nodding, I lowered my head and blew out a shaky breath. “I understand, and if you’re truly happy then what I have to tell you won’t matter at all. I have to get this out or I may never get the chance again. Claire, I …”
Unfortunately, that was as far as I’d gotten before the sound of Cooper’s truck coming down the long driveway stopped me. Are you fucking kidding me? When am I ever going to catch a break? It was perfect timing on his part, but terrible for mine. Skeptically, he glanced from me to Claire and then settled his gaze on me with a scowl on his face. It was obvious he knew who I was, and if not it was obvious he didn’t care for me. Claire glanced nervously behind her, and I knew my moment to tell her how I felt was lost. Would I get a chance to before I left? I had no clue, but I had to try. Before Cooper could get out of his truck, I stepped closer to Claire and let her see the seriousness in my eyes.
“Meet me tonight,” I muttered quickly. “You know where.”
Past her shoulder I could see Cooper approaching, but she kept her glistening blue eyes my way. If she didn’t agree to meet me tonight there was still the possibility I’d never see her again. Any time I went undercover was dangerous and I always had to accept the probability that it could be the last mission I ever went on. It was the way it worked.
“I’m sorry, Mason, but I can’t. I can’t risk everything just because you show up on my doorstep. If you want my trust or my heart you need to fight for it … you need to earn it. Until you’re willing to do that I don’t want to see you again,” she uttered boldly.
Cooper finally made it to us and put his arm around Claire’s shoulders, pulling her into his side. “Everything okay?” he asked, gazing down at her before turning a lethal glare my way.
Claire wrapped her arms around his waist and nodded, smiling up at him. “Yes, everything’s fine.” Her smile disappeared when she glanced back at me. “I was just telling Mason good-bye.”
With those last words she turned her back on me for the second time today while Cooper stayed behind. We both watched her climb into his truck and shut the door, keeping her gaze on anything but us.
“What are you doing here?” Cooper asked angrily, crossing his arms over his chest. He was a couple of inches taller than me, but height never mattered anyway. We were almost identical as far as body size, but I knew without a doubt I could take him in a fight.
“Not that it’s any of your business,” I replied with a sly grin on my face, “but if you must know I came to visit my cousin.”
Cooper scoffed. “Well, whatever the reasons are you better stay away from Claire. I know who you are and what you did to her. However, I guess I should be happy that you were such an idiot because now I have her and you don’t. So thank you for that.”
“I don’t think you’ll be thanking me when I get her back,” I warned with a smirk on my face. “I let her go once, but it was a mistake I’ll never make again. I’ll fight for her no matter what it takes. You can count on that.”
I was determined to get her back and of that I was certain.

~~~~~~~~~
THE INTERVIEW:
1.       How long have you been writing? Let’s see … as far as writing in general I’ve done it for as long as I could hold a pencil in my hand. I wrote a lot in high school as far as poetry, but my serious writing didn’t start until 2012.
2.       What or who inspires you to write? As far as inspiration I’d have to say everything inspires me. I love to write when it’s rainy outside or when I have the windows open so I can hear the wind. I get a lot of my ideas when I’m out driving too. I know that sounds kind of dangerous but for some reason I can think more clearly when I’m out of my house like that sometimes. However, most of my productive times of writing is when the house is completely silent except for the thoughts in my head.
3.       What genre do you like to read? What genre don’t I like to read … lol. I love to read paranormal (especially werewolves and vampires). I have to say paranormal is my favorite, but I love me some hot contemporary romances too.
4.       What is your favorite genre to write? You know, I think my answer to this changes each time I write a book. After I wrote the final book in my Forever Fae series I would’ve said Fantasy, but now that I just finished Meant for Me I’d have to say Romantic Suspense. I can’t seem to let go of Mason and Claire’s story right now. Meant for Me is my all time favorite.
5.       Who is your favorite author and why? Do I have to name just one? … lol. Okay, I think I’m going to have to go with Jeaniene Frost. She’s written my favorite paranormal couple, Cat and Bones. I love her books and I love Bones. Her newest release is getting ready to be published and I can’t wait to dive in.
6.       What do you love about writing and why? I love being able to put my ideas and thoughts onto paper and having people read them. It’s a form of expression and with my fantasy series I can conjure up magic and do anything I want. It’s freeing and fulfilling to live out your dreams and fantasies and share them with the world. With my romance series I love being able to bring people together and give them a second chance at love. I always thought I was a good matchmaker.
7.       What is the book about? Meant for Me is about an undercover cop and former MMA fighter, Mason, who is asked to join back in the fighting community to solve a string of murders in Vegas. Of course, I had to add in Claire and a lot of sexiness. If you want to know more you’ll have to read the book. J
8.       What or who was the inspiration for the book? Well … Mason makes an appearance in Trusting You which is the second book in my Second Chances series and when I got done with that book I knew Mason needed to have his story told. I knew when I introduced him that there was going to be a story with him. It’s turned out to be my favorite one.
9.       Who are the characters in the book? There are several main characters but the most important ones are Mason Bradley and Claire O’Briene. Claire is also seen in Trusting You so you get a little insight on how they met in that book. The other characters are: Jake Montgomery (Vegas club owner), Tyler (hunky MMA fighter, friend of Claire’s), Matt Reynolds (sexy MMA fighter, good friend of Mason’s), Wade Mitchell (MMA fighter, friend of Claire’s), Erick Young (arrogant douchebag, Wade’s agent), and Chase Benfield (MMA fighter, definitely evil) <---- I don’t like Chase … lol.
10.   If you could have five authors, over for dinner, alive or dead, who would they be and why? Jeaniene Frost – so I can ask her if I can steal Bones away from her, J.R. Ward – because I love her Black Dagger Brotherhood, Terry Spear – her werewolves are awesome, E.L. James – because I really want to know how she got all of that kinkiness in her head … lol, and J.K. Rowling because I LOVE me some Harry Potter.
