Happy New Year!!!

It is 10:45pm on the 31st... I can't believe it is going to be 2013 in just over an hour!!

Wishing all my friends and family a very happy and healthy New Year!! I'm hoping I can make to midnight, but don't know if I will.

Review of Vampyre Kisses, and Interview with Author Elizabeth Kolodziej

Alright, this is later then I wanted to post, but I got it on the 31st!!  Like I promised I would!  It was one of those things, that everytime I was going to sit down and do it, someone needed something in my house!!!  I hate it when that happens.  It's like they know I need to do something, and do everything to prevent me from doing.  Don't get started on the my writing.... Also, this is my last post of 2012!!!

Vampyre Kisses is an enthralling story about a young woman named Faith, who seems content with her life, but deep down craves more excitement. Then a mysterious man named Trent enters her world and everything changes. Surprising to Faith, Trent is a green-eyed vampire from Ireland. She is even more amazed to find out that she is a witch, and the last of her kind.

Faith learns that she is destined to restore her witch line and becomes more powerful as she gains confidence and knowledge, but danger lurks everywhere -- especially when unknown assailants steal the most important gems from the vampire master and werewolf royalty.

Now surrounded by a world filled with mystifying vampires and werewolves, can Faith gain enough power to help her friends and rescue the stolen gems?

I gave this four Daisies because I really liked the storyline of the book.  I LOVED Trent, the vampire.  Just thinking of that Irish accent... yummy!!!  Also, I loved Faith, and would totally love to be a witch just so I could do all that magic!!

Faith is in a rut in her life.  Her father passed away in a horrible manner, and she's kind of going through the routine of life.  When she meets Trent at a club, her life changes soon after that.  She discovers he's a vampire in a very frightening way, but it doesn't scare her away.  Also, she finds out she has a vampire kiss, which protects her from getting bitten.  She doesn't know who did it or why, but she is determined to find out.

She meets a woman named Morgan, who her father was in love with.  A woman who wasn't her mother.  She's heartbroken at first, but soon finds out this woman was a vampire and the one who gave her the kiss.  It is through this woman, that she finds out she's a witch; that she is part a whole line of witches.  Faith is surprised at first, but is excited at the thought of being a witch.

This is where the excitement really starts in the book.  While walking with her best friend Mac, she is attacked by a werewolf in the park.  After this, she meets the Master of the Vampires, and the King and Queen of the Werewolves.  The werewolf who attacked Faith and Mac is actually the prince.  She finds out that Moon Gem, which holds the blood of previous werewolf royalty.  Also, the Blood Gem is missing, which is the same thing for the vampires.  Both have to be found quickly, as it will be detrimental for both the werewolves and the vampires.

I loved sharing Faith's training with her.  It was amazing to discover her new power, and to discover she was going to be quite powerful at times.  The man who trained her, Akilah, was my favorite character.  He's a shape-shifter and is the one who has trained all the witches.  He was overjoyed to meet Faith, as she is the last one to exist. I have to say... when you first meet him... he is a huge spider.  I think I would died of a heart attack, as I hate spiders.

When arriving back home, she finds out her mother isn't the person she thought she is.  Trent and Morgan try to comfort her as much as they can, but she is still heartbroken over it.  Her mother forces her to make a choice, and is not happy with Faith's decision.

Now... Trent... I loved him from the first moment she meets him in the club.  He is very yummy, and I couldn't stop thinking about that accent.  I love that he was instantly curious and fascinated about Faith.  When told by his sire to stay away, he sees her anyway.  He's protective of her, and loves her completely and utterly.

Morgan, Faith realizes, is more of a mother to her then her own has been.  They grow very close, so Faith is understandably concerned, when she learns she has to fight Kali for the role of Master.  Kali has been deceptive, and it becomes known that she was in league with one who was supposed to be Master himself.  She's scared for Morgan, but understands it needs to be done.

For the werewolves, they find out there is a former werewolf who wants the throne for himself.  To get the Moon Gem back, he and a few other werewolves team up with Faith and her friends to get it back.

Soon, after much training, Faith is forced to make a very difficult decision regarding her mother.  She finds out the woman she loved is more ruthless then she believed possible.

I liked this book a lot, and the romance between Trent and Faith was very endearing to read.  They cared deeply for each other, and would do anything to keep the other safe.  I was a little disappointed at the ending, because I felt it was a little anti-climactic.  There is one character who I thought would play a bigger role in the fight at the end, but he didn't.  It's known he's there, and it's known that he gets away, but I did think he would play more of a role.

I loved that Morgan stepped up to the plate with Faith.  Especially when it's clear Faith's own mother is not the loving woman she seems to be.  Faith learns she can rely on Morgan, and considers her her mother almost instantly.

THE INTERVIEW

1. What is Vampyre Kisses about?
Vampyre Kisses is truly about the self discovery of Faith Scott. She doesn’t know she is a witch and it takes a smexy vampire like Trent to help her down her path.

2. Who are the main characters of Vampyre Kisses?
Trent Callen and Faith Scott would be the main characters. However, certain books concentrate on one species more than others to give each supernatural creature there time in the spotlight.

3.  How long have you been working on Vampyre Kisses?
Vampyre Kisses was actually a hobby for me in the beginning. So I took around 4 years writing it. It wasn’t until I was done that I considered publishing it.

5.  How long have you been writing?
Ever since I can remember to be honest! I would even do book reports just for fun. Yes, I am a nerd.

6.  What/Who inspires you to write?
Inspiration comes in so many forms that it is really difficult to describe. I would say what inspires me the most would be music and who would be other authors.

7.  What made you decide to write about vampires?
It’s what I grew up learning from my mom and like they say “write what you know best”.

8.  I like to listen to music while I'm writing, what do you like to do while you're writing?
It depends. Sometimes I’m good with background noise from the TV but on more intense scenes when I have found a song perfect for it, I will replay the song over and over again. I have to rewind sometimes so it matches up with the action taking place. Lol.

10.  What kind of book do you like to read and why?
I read what I write. Any book that deals with the supernatural as a potential to be what I like.

11. What genre do you think you would write, if you weren't writing paranormal?
Actually, I am starting a Steampunk series and I do write erotica already. I think between those three genres I am able to express myself in many different ways.

12. What advice do you have for aspiring authors like me?
Research this industry before you decide to proceed. There is a difference between loving to write and publishing a novel. You must read more than two books on marketing and PR. If you don’t become more knowing of the publishing process a writer has the chance of really being screwed over.

Review and Giveaway of Elder by Raine Thomas!!!

Clara Kate is one of the eight beings needed to activate the Elder Scroll, an ancient artifact causing tragedy and darkness on the Estilorian plane. She knows that her focus needs to be on finding the final piece and stopping the evil Mercesti, but Ini-herit isn't making it easy.

He’s working closely with Clara Kate on the quest to stop their enemies…too close for her comfort. His presence serves as a constant reminder of the love they shared on the human plane, a love that he no longer remembers at all.

Her life and the lives of those she loves are at risk, and she knows she has to put aside her personal problems. So far on their journey, she's endured heartbreak, terror, pain and loss. She’s even been brought to the brink of death.

She thinks things can't get any worse.

She's wrong.

Ok, I'm going to try not to gush too much about this book.  I don't want to give too much away, so NO GUSHING!!!

This book made me sad for two reasons.  The first is because it's the last book in the series, and I hate reading the last book of a series.  Trust me, I haven't read the end of Breaking Dawn, as the thought of saying goodbye to Edward is almost too much for me.  Also, when I met Raine, she was editing the Daughters of Saraquel series, and supported her through this series as much as I could.  I feel like I've been apart of the Estilorian journey from the beginning, and love the characters that I've gotten to know and love.

The second reason it made me sad was Clara Kate.

She is heartbroken.

She loves a man who does not remember her, or what they shared together.  Ini-herit, or Harry as she calls him, returns to the Estilorian plane from the human one and goes back to his normal self.  Which is feeling nothing; he knows they shared something, but just can't remember it.  Anytime he comes close, it disappears on him.

Throughout the book, it's one adventure after another.  They go on the hunt for the third and final piece of the Elder scroll, determined not to have the Mercesti leader Eirik get it for himself.  This is a journey Clara Kate has to do herself, and with her family, she has the support to do it.

My favorite part comes with Zachariah.  We meet him in the first book of the series, and I absolutely love him!!  He is just too funny at times, because he is so clueless at times.  What happens with him made me extremely happy, and it was so deserving.  For someone who for so long didn't think he was worthy of anything, it was perfect!

I will miss the adventures of the Estilorians, and the love they have for their family.  Because that has been the one common thing with all the books.  The love for family.  I am beyond happy that I can go back and visit them time and time again.

Great job Raine!!  As always!!  Can't wait to go on the next adventure with you, whatever it may be!!

In all of my excitement, I forgot to put the links for the book so for amazon, B&N and Goodreads.  Here they are below:

Cover Reveal of Allusive Aftershock by Susan Griscom

Love this cover!!!  Can not wait to read this book!  Allusive Aftershock by Susan Griscom is being released today, December 23rd!!  The links for book Kindle and the paperback are provided below!!

Blurb:
What happens when a major earthquake changes life as you know it and the boy you thought you hated ends up saving you? Three times!

Courtland Reese is the guy everyone hates and makes fun of because … well, he is weird. He communicates with animals. Strange or interesting, seventeen-year-old Adela Castielle can’t quite figure out, but when he saves her from being trampled by her own horse, she begins to understand him a little better and wants to learn more about him.

But, Max--her best friend/dream guy/someday-to-be-her-husband-only-he-doesn’t-know-it-yet--hates Courtland with a passion. Adela wants to know why, except neither boy is talking.

When Max leaves her stranded in his parents' wine cave with his worst enemy, Courtland, after what the experts are calling a “megathrust” earthquake, Adela starts to question her loyalty to Max as steamy kisses in a dark damp cellar only fuel her emotions with more conflict.

But does she really have time to worry about that when fire, destruction and mayhem surround her?

A Note From Susan Griscom
My friends and family know me as Susan Griscom, but I write the Whisper Cape series under the name of Regan Walsh. Visit my blog: http://swblog.susangriscom.com

I daydream often and sometimes my daydreams interrupt my daydreams. So I write to remember them. If I didn't write, I think my mind would explode from an overload of fantasy and weirdness. To the annoyance of my friends and family, my characters sometimes become a part of my world. During my childhood, I would frequently get in trouble in school for daydreaming. Eventually, my vivid imagination paid off and I had the privilege of writing and co-directing my sixth-grade class play—a dreadful disaster, though not from my writing, of course, I must blame it on the acting.

I enjoy writing about characters living in small quaint towns and tend to lean toward the unusual and spooky.

My paranormal playing field delves into a different milieu, abandoning vampires and werewolves, but not discounting them. Someday I might like to write a novel about vamps and those furry creatures. But for now I like the bizarre mixed with romance. A strong hero or heroine confronted with extraordinary forces of nature, powers and capabilities gets my blood running hot.

Cover Reveal of Lucifer by Annabelle Cadiz

This was supposed to be posted yesterday, and I feel horrible about missing it.  I do have a good reason though... when I was going to sit down and work on it Thursday night, I burned my hand on a frying pan. Totally wrecked my plans for the night at that point.  There was no typing with my left hand burned up.

So, I was not able to post the cover when I could.  Damn frying pan!!!  So, without further delay, here is the beautiful cover of Lucifer!!!  I love it!!!!

Synopsis: Have you ever wondered what could be hiding in the shadows?

Well, for eighteen-year-old Zahara Faraday, she doesn’t have to wonder. You see she comes from a lineage of Light Witches, those who have chosen to help protect and serve between the supernatural world and the human world. The only problem is Zahara, like her father Solomon, is as human as a human being can be whereas her mother, Mia, and her Aunt Catalina, were born as Light Witches. As a family they hunt down rogue supernaturals—creatures who harm humans or who have committed an act against their kingdom.

Zahara’s hunting skills are usually kept dormant since her parents would prefer she live life as a normal human girl without knowledge of the supernatural world. She plans on doing just that—except when she finds a couple being attacked by fairies, she has no choice but to step in. Before she can return to pretending to be blissfully ignorant, Zahara encounters a problem she isn’t the least equip to handle: Bryan Hamilton, the good looking new co-worker she has to help train. In a heartbeat, her best friend, Becca King, has set her up on a double date with herself and her new crush, Rekesh Saint-Louis, who happens to be the most powerful leader of the biggest Imago Coven in South Florida –supernatural creatures with the ability to control water . . . and suck out human souls.

Zahara has no time to focus on how she’s going to explain her double date with her best friend and the enemy they have a tentative truce with to her parents because soon one of the members of Mia and Catalina’s coven is found murdered with a strange tattoo of a snake with wings carved into his arm.

Zahara is then thrown into a whirlwind battle with an angel determined to have revenge against God, an Imago coven she doesn’t think they should trust, and slew of dream-eating fairies and powerful Nephilims, hybrid children of angels and humans, more than happy to rip her to shreds.

Normal just got a deadlier definition.

Go Inside Lucifer (Sons of Old Trilogy, #1)
Coming January 31, 2013!

Blurb:
“Care to dance?” Bryan asked, already leading Zahara to the dance floor.

She pulled him back and shook her head. “I’m the worst dancer! My feet, hips, and body don’t know how to coordinate well together, so I wind up looking like an ostrich trying to bust a move.”

Bryan laughed and pulled her onto the dance floor. “Whether you look like an ostrich or a ballerina dancer, you’re still the best lookin’ one here.”

He spun her around and placed his hands on her hips, attempting slowly to move her in the same rhythm as his own. At first Zahara’s body moved stiffly, even under Bryan’s warm and smooth hands, which were sending shivers creeping up her spine and around her midsection; she couldn’t stop looking around the club. Stuck in between a group of scantily clad teenage girls who kept dropping to their knees and bouncing back up, a giggling mass of hysteria, and a Spanish couple pressed so tightly together their dancing came off as borderline sex, Zahara felt like an alien. Even the hyena-sounding girls–who Zahara was pretty sure, were all buzzed and quickly heading to being drunk—moved with more skill than she possessed.

But Bryan pressed her closer against him and placed her arms to circle his neck from behind. He moved a little faster and Zahara fell into step, laying her head against his shoulder and closing her eyes to drown out the crowd. She focused on the hard muscles of Bryan’s chest, his heated breath against her hair, and his fingers gripping her waist. She absently wondered if it was wrong that an angel was dancing inside of a club full of youth, and if this was as weird and exhilarating for him as it was for her. Bryan spun her around to face him and kissed her. He wasn’t as gentle as he usually was, digging his hand into her hair and nibbling on her bottom lip. Zahara whimpered and moved her fingers underneath his shirt, digging her fingers into his back.

Bryan pulled back and laid his forehead against Zahara’s, his breath ragged and intense enough to set her on fire. “You’re making this difficult.”

“Making what difficult?” Zahara huffed.

“Leaving you.” Bryan closed his eyes and kissed her again.

Favorite Quotes:

Enough with the games, I know what you are, Nephilim and if you make one move, I promise I will crave you open.~Zahara

You caught me, I was definitely dreaming of you. If I remember correctly, you were frolicking on a beach, wearing a pretty skimpy red bikini and some kind of flower in your hair. Gotta say that was the best dream I’ve ever had.” ~Bryan

Time is endless for a being such as I. Power is the only master I trust.~Lucifer

“All those night long phone calls! All those secret visits to my house! All those secret walks! And you’re fond of me! You think I’m being over dramatic! How about I break your face open for over dramatics!” ~Becca

Solomon, you will remember that although I agreed to ally myself and my coven with yours, that does not mean you have any semblance of authority over me. We have a truce, and I conduct my own actions as I see fit, whether that involves Becca or not.’

And you remember I will take your coven down the moment you step over the line,” Solomon hissed.~Solomon and Rekesh

More Changes to the Book...

Yes, there are more changes.  Right now, I'm attempting to find the time to change a whole scene around.  Because of the changes with Jill being pregnant, now there are scenes that need to flow to fit the storyline.

I'm getting frustrated...

It's not the scene itself.  That is fine.  I have it in my head, ready to be typed or written out.  It's the time thing that is alluding me right now. I have no time to sit down with my laptop and actually write anything out!!  Whenever I do sit down, within five minutes someone needs something.

Also, I'm thinking of putting another excerpt on the book up on the blog.  I'm waiting until I have it all flowing right and making sense before I post anything more.  It has to be almost perfect before I post for all to see!!  So, it may be awhile before I post anything.  Just because the time thing is so elusive right now! My three boys are demanding!  The two little ones and the big one!!

Well, I'm off... we're helping Colin make a longhouse for his school project!  The boys are going to be hunting for sticks when they get home.  Crossing my fingers that the rain stays off until then.

Cover Reveal of Star Cursed By Ashley Lavering

Second Book in the Curse of the Beast Series
By Ashley Lavering

Book Description:

Chel finished tying me to the chair and stood. “This is crazy.”
I ignored her comment. “Go down to the basement.”
“Now, I know you’ve lost it.” She folded her arms. “How will this prove that your giant dog is the hot guy that got in your van?”
“I’ll explain later. Just trust me.”
One of her eyebrows rose.
“Please?” I waited for her to nod. “Once you’re down there, I want you to whisper something. Then come back up.”
“Whatever.” With an eye roll, she left the room.
I focused on her feet thumping against the wood stairs and heard the change when they slapped across the tiled kitchen floor. Once the basement door closed, I strained to hear her, but all I caught was a beetle scuttling across the kitchen. Nerves tangled in my gut. Had I missed it?
“If this doesn’t work, I’m calling the loony bin, Tay.” Chel’s voice rang so loud that I jerked back, toppling the chair. I hit the floor with a thud.
Beast’s airy chortle resonated from outside the window.
“Shut up. This isn’t funny,” I told him.
Chel walked through the door. “Geeze, what happened?” She hurried to me. “Are you okay?” She righted my chair with a grunt.
“That depends.”
“On?” She cocked an eyebrow at me.
“On whether or not you’re going to untie me.”
“Oh my gosh. I’m so sorry.” She scrambled to untie the knots.
My hands slipped free and I rubbed my bruised arm. “What kind of friend are you?”
“What?” She startled.
I shook my head at her. “I can’t believe you’d commit me.”
“Wait, you heard that?” Her eyes widened.
I repeated it word for word.
“Whoa, that’s, like, creepy and awesome at the same time. But I still don’t understand how this proves your dog is a werewolf.”
The dreaded moment had arrived and nerves attacked my stomach. “Because, Chel—he bit me.”

Seventeen-year-old Tayla will never forget Beast’s fiery-venom spreading through her body like an infection. Now, with her best friend Chel’s help, she must find a human true love before the last petal falls from her enchanted rose or the full moon will transform her into a wolf forever.
But Tayla never expected that her biggest obstacle would come from inside—a wolf presence threatening to take her very soul. At every turn, the she-wolf exploits Tayla’s weaknesses and gains enough control to sabotage her dates. Tayla struggles to control her unruly wolf and her forbidden attraction to Beast. But can she resist his southern charm, the she-wolf’s attraction to his alluring scent, and still fall in love with a human?
Tangled in a web of wills, Tayla must risk everything to break the Curse of the Beast. With failure and possible death looming overhead, Tayla will do anything to find true love. But will one moon cycle be long enough to conquer her wolf and remain human? Or will she become a permanent member of Beast’s pack? Find out in the second installment in the Curse of the Beast series.

I feel horrible about this, as it was supposed to be posted on Saturday.  My only excuse was it was son's birthday, and it was crazy that day!  Totally went over my head... I'm more mad at myself then anything, as I made a commitment and don't like it when I break my word.

I love this cover, and the book, of course, is one I would love to read!!!!  I should probably read the first one before this one, so I know what's going on!!
