Review and Giveaway of Morrigan by Laura DeLuca!!!

Title: Morrigan
Author: Laura DeLuca
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy
Tour Host: Lady Amber's Tours

Synopsis:
Shuffled from place to place in the foster system, Morrigan doesn't know the meaning of home. Plus, she is different. She has power over fire, the ability to move objects with her mind, and glimpse into the future. Just when she believes her life can’t get any stranger, she discovers her true identity.

Filtiarn, a knight with a dark past and a surprising secret, has been tasked with guiding the heir of Tír na NÓg through countless perils to be returned to her family. Once Morrigan has been reunited with her mother and grandmother, their triad can save the forgotten land of magic from being devoured by an ancient evil.

THE REVIEW!!

I desperately wanted to finish this book last night, but after I saw it was one in the morning, my body wouldn't let me.  So, I had to wait until this morning!!  It was so worth the wait!!!

Morrigan has never really fit in anywhere.  She feels like she's meant for not only a different world, but a different planet.  She knows she's different from everyone else.  She has powers; she can control fire and move things with her mind.

After being abandoned by her mother when she was a baby, she's been in one foster home after another, knowing that everyone is scared of her.  She doesn't know why, as she doesn't use her powers in front of anyone.  They just know she's weird.  She's made fun at school, and they bully her, but she doesn't take the abuse lying down.  She's been forced to take care of herself for years, and she does it very well.

Her only two friends are two cats that show up at her door.  She thinks they are lost at first, and decides to keep them after she can't find the owner.  They never leave her side for anything, and she grows extremely close to them.

For some reason, Morrigan dreams of a dark knight in her dreams.  She doesn't who he is, or what impact he will have on her life, but she knows she loves him completely.

When her mother comes to her, she realizes she's right about her being from a different place.  Soon she sees the man from her dreams in reality, waiting to take her back to her homeland.  She has no idea now much her life will chance once she's back home.  She's told that an evil queen has captured her mother and grandmother, and she must help in setting them free.  Thinking her mother is in danger, she goes with Filtiarn freely.

Before the journey begins, she finds out her two beloved cats are actually guardians sent to protect her.  She doesn't know quite what that means, and when she sees what they are capable of, she's shocked!  Tiarn makes it known he doesn't think highly of her.  He has no idea of the kind of person Morrigan is, and believes her to be the self serving royal he's been led to believe she is.  She doesn't understand his reasoning, and slowly convinces him of her true sweet nature.

After she helps in freeing her mother and grandmother, she overhears their true plan, and ulimately who they really are.  She's devastated, but knows she must do the right thing, and go against them.  She's heartbroken, believing Tarin betrayed her, and sends him away not knowing the full truth.

To save her life, and the life the true queen she is forced to do some soul searching within herself.  She needs to find the strength to stop the evil plan that is going to take place, or she will lose everything she holds dear.

Her mother is not who she wanted her to believe, and along with her grandmother have a grand scheme that would wreck havoc over the kingdom.  Morrigan must make a choice; help her mother and grandmother, or assist her aunt in stopping what is going to happen.

I loved this book!!  I loved Tiarn, the brooding, broken werewolf.  His love her Morrigan was complete, and in the end he proves his love her when it is needed.  He's haunted by an act so horrible, that he stops turning into the wolf to prevent it from happening again.  With Morrigan by his side, she's able to show him a forgiveness, that he wasn't able to ever give himself.

THE EXCERPT!

“Guardians!” A low snarl emanated from the back of his throat. “What are you doing with Guardians?”
“Stop it! Sit down!”
Morrigan wasn’t sure who she was addressing, the man or the animals. Luckily, they both obeyed her command. She stepped in between them to avoid any further confrontations. The cats took a seat on either side her legs, but their posture hardly relaxed. They still glared warily at the newcomer, even though their hisses died down to an occasional soft growl.
“Dirty, filthy beasts!” Tiarn snarled as he climbed to his feet. “I hate Guardians.”
“They’re just little cats,” Morrigan told him. “What’s the big deal?”
“Just cats! Hah!” He was standing at a careful distance, even though they had started licking their paws nonchalantly. “They are much more than simple cats! Though even those I find distasteful.”
Morrigan narrowed her eyes. “What do you mean?”
“Never mind. It does not matter.” Tiarn dismissed her question with a wave of his hand. “They are not coming with us.
 “They most certainly are coming!”
Tiarn growled again. “I beg to differ with you, Your Highness. They would only get in the way.  Possibly even get killed.”
Danu raised her head from her grooming to hiss at him again, as though she had taken that last statement as a personal threat. The strange reaction of her faithful sidekicks made Morrigan wonder again just how much Tiarn could be trusted. She also wondered why, when she wasn’t sure she could trust him, she still felt the undeniable urge to wrap her arms around his neck and kiss him.
“If they stay here alone, they’ll definitely get killed or at least sent to the pound,” Morrigan told him. “I can’t let that happen. So, they’re coming. End of story.”
Tiarn’s eyes flashed dangerously, and he looked like he wanted to argue, but thought better of it. “Very well, Princess. Bring your mongrel felines. Just keep in mind that Guardians and lycans do not mix well.”
“Lycans?” Morrigan repeated.
A sick feeling started to settle in her stomach, as the truth of his words sunk in. It all started to make sense—his hairy arms and chest, his reaction to the cats, even his earlier comment about smelling her out. Her dark knight had a much darker side than she had ever seen in her dreams.
“Why yes, Your Majesty. Did you not realize? You are a witch and a sorceress. And I, your faithful traveling companion, am a lycan—a werewolf.”

Cover Reveal for Warrior Unleashed by Lindsay Avalon!!!

Welcome to the official cover reveal of Warrior Unleashed, book 1.5 in the Mythrian Realm series! When Breaking the Nexus released on 12/12/12, readers fell in love with the Mythrian Realm and clamored for more. Since the follow up, Waking the Phoenix won’t be ready until sometime this summer, I knew I had to give readers a taste of Mythria.

Warrior Unleashed, a novella featuring Sha’s half brother, will be released on May 7! This novella is set entirely in the Mythrian Realm and while the hero and heroine are not Sha and Connor, I think you’ll all fall in love with this couple. Find out what happens when the sexy panther Chimerae, Achaius Rilke, must team up with feisty Gaelen Sorceri Saia Makan in this action packed novella!

Without further ado, I present the gorgeous cover designed by Blue Harvest Creative!

Blurb:

Nothing is more dangerous than a warrior unleashed.

When Sentinels begin dying under mysterious circumstances, the deaths are believed to be unrelated. Only one man sees the truth: an unknown enemy is targeting the elite group of warriors and no one is safe. As a panther Chimerae, Achaius Rilke recognizes the signs of an unpredictable predator. The only person he can trust is Saia Makan, the tempestuous Sorceri who has driven him crazy for years. But when the killer has set his sights on Saia, Achaius faces the hunt of his life.

Don’t miss the first book, Breaking the Nexus, available now on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and in paperback!

Blurb:
A warrior trying to save humans. A detective searching for a killer. And a powerful romance neither expected.

Throughout history, myths and legends of extraordinary creatures have been told and retold. Fantastic tales of demons and banshees, gryphons and dragons, and of course, magic. Stories that every child grows to learn are nothing more than fantasy…or are they?

Beyond the world you see lies a hidden realm, the Mythrian Realm, inhabited by all of the creatures you’ve been told are mere fiction. Only one thing lies between humans and the truth: the Nexus. A magical barrier erected millennia ago to separate the two realms, it has stood the test of time. Until now.

For Mythrian Sha Phoenix, magic is nothing new. But when she stumbles upon a portal on the verge of collapse, her fate will forever change. Pulled through the portal into the Human Realm, she lands in the middle of Detective Connor Flynn’s brutal murder scene. Soon it is obvious someone is using blood magic to try to bring down the Nexus. Together, Connor and Sha must work to unravel the secrets before the barrier falls and the realms collide.

The Nexus is breaking and all hell is about to unleash…literally.

MEET LINDSAY AVALON!!
I am a wife, a programmer, and now an author. I have an adorable mini Schnauzer and more books than I have room for. I love reading romance because no matter what may be happening in my life, I can always count on my books to end happily ever after. The day I met my husband was the day I truly began believing in happily ever after. After hearing me complain a few too many times that I had “nothing” to read despite the hundreds of paperbacks scattered around the house, my husband began suggesting I write my own stories. When I finally took his advice I discovered that although I enjoy my day job as a software engineer, my true calling is to be an author.

My sister drilled into me an appreciation for fantasy and mythology, something I try to bring to my books. My debut novel, Breaking the Nexus started as a book written for NaNoWriMo and has grown to so much more. It was the conduit that introduced me to a fantastic group of independent authors who have changed my life in unimaginable ways.

When I’m not writing, I’ve found a passion for blogging and interviewing fellow authors. I also love reading, baking, crochet, sewing sock monkeys, playing video games, and all sorts of random crafts. I have an incurable love of rubber duckies and stuffed animals, and I believe nobody should have to grow up if they don’t want.

Jace is a great one! My favorite book boyfriend would have to be Darcy from Pride and Prejudice or Qhuinn from the Black Dagger Brotherhood created by J.R. Ward.

I have not read Qhuinn's story yet, but from the cover... he's yummy!!  Great choice for a book boyfriend!!

THE REVIEW!!

I was almost in tears many times throughout this book.  Jade and Claire are driving home from her Bachlorette party, and little do they know how their lives are going to change.  Jade is getting married in a week to the man of her dreams.

One fateful decision at a truck stop brutally ends Jade's life.  The book doesn't end there... this is Jade's journey for the truth to come out about what happened to her.  Her best friend Claire is in a coma, her fiancee is struggling to come to terms with her death, and there is a stranger she is feeling drawn to and doesn't know why.

On her first day as a ghost she meets Madame Ella; she doesn't understand how she can see her, but she welcomes it immediately.  I loved Ella, and I felt for her.  She was a damaged woman, and Jade helps her see the one ghost she can't.  After that, they have a very close bond.  There are things Ella won't do to help out Jade and her situation, so Jade is forced to do some things herself.  At the same time, there is this is stranger Mason distracting her and he's always around.

When she realizes they have a history together, she finds she can't stop herself from being around him.  She's conflicted, because she believes that she cheated on her fiancee Reed.  When she sees Reed coming in for a session with Ella with his cousin, she comes to a realization that is almost her undoing.  She's not who she thinks she is, and finally understands why she feels the connection with Mason and not with Reed.

At the same time, they are trying to catch the people who killed her and put Claire in the coma.  She is able to give Reed the information about them for him to take to the police.  They have an idea who is responsible, so with Reed's help they are able to stake out the truck stop being used.  I could not stop reading, as these two horrible people caused a lot of damage, and didn't show signs of stopping their horrible acts.

Finally when she and Mason are able to assist in the capture of the two responsible for killing Jade and two other girls.  In the process, Mason makes a fateful decision that causes him to disappear from her life forever.  She's devastated and desperate to find him.

Once Claire wakes up, she meets Chad.  She's known of his exsistence from Ella and Mason, and grows really close to him.  He is the only one who knows what she went through, but she's still wondering where Mason went.  He broke the cardinal rule of not interfering, and now he was gone.

I loved this book, and could not stop reading it until it was done!!  Ella was my favorite character, because she was a sweet old lady, but tough as nails at the same time. She had rules when it came to ghosts, and there was no breaking them.

THE AUTHOR!!

AUTHOR BIO:
I'm always clicking away at the keyboard, but when I'm not, my family, my two dogs, and a very peculiar cat keep me on my toes!  There's never a boring moment at my desk!  Besides my obvious love for coffee and all things caffeinated, I love to travel.  The occasional tourist stop is fun, but I'm a back road kind of gal!  Take me off the beaten path. I want to meet the ordinary people behind the culture.

My crazy family includes a husband, four kids, two grandbabies, two dogs, and a cat.  That's right! Life is totally insane! Now you understand why I write!

Speaking of writing, I've been spinning stories around the campfire, since I can remember.  Poetry is second nature, and as a teen and young adult, short stories were constantly being penned.  I'm an avid reader, who loves almost all genres. Let's face it!  A good read is a good read, regardless of whether it takes place in the future, the past, or with ghosts!

THE EXCERPT:
"Are they talking about admitting her?" Megan asked, trying to keep the horror out of her voice. From their conversations the doctors hadn't thought hospitalization would be necessary and she could receive her chemo as an outpatient. If the emergency room doctors were considering hospitalization for anything other than dehydration and nausea, then Anya was not in good shape. If so, all the optimism and perky tones in the world wouldn't do her any good.

"I don't know," Bryan repeated, clearly frustrated. "I don't think the doctors know!"
"Okay, okay," Megan said, trying to calm Bryan down. "I'll be there soon. Let her know, okay?"
"Yeah," he said weakly and mumbled that he needed to go and he'd see her soon.

The phone clicked, signaling the call was disconnected and Megan had to fight the urge to put her head back and close her eyes as she merged onto the interstate. Thankfully the rush hour traffic was dissipating.
Minutes later Megan was maneuvering through downtown, silently cursing every red light. She had been able to see the hospital since she exited the interstate and was anxious to reach her destination.

Finally, the light turned and car in front of her rolled through the intersection. Megan made her right turn into the hospital parking garage and felt her pulse begin to race.

It wasn't fear of being too late, but the fear the unknown. Having just seen Anya earlier, Megan wasn't sure what kind of state her best friend was going to be in.

The parking garage was across the street from the hospital and Megan collected the ticket so she could proceed further into the underbelly of the garage and begin her hunt for a space.

Parking was a nightmare—almost as bad as the ones she had been suffering at night. She reached the third level before she found a parking spot in a distant corner of the garage. She quickly trotted to the elevator, waited for what felt like hours, and wrote it down to street level.

Lessons from the Gypsy Camp by Elizabeth Appell!!

Join us April 22-26th for this amazing heart wrenching book tour!  Rated 4.5 stars on Goodreads and 4.8 on Amazon!
Dont forget to follow the tour and to enter to win some great prizes!
AUTHOR BIO:
The day Elizabeth Appell was expelled from parochial school for her essay describing the life and death of her dreaded fourth grade teacher, Sister Theodora, she learned the power of the written word. She has never stopped writing. In 1980 she and a partner founded DIGIT, a computer magazine for kids, which hit the world slightly before it's time.

Blessed with a relentlessly naggy muse, she's written several novels, one published so far, a slew of award winning screenplays, several plays, one produced in Los Angeles, an arm full of short stories, many published in literary magazines, and two award winning short films. She and her husband have traveled extensively. After visiting southern Spain she hungered for a taste of the art of bullfighting. After three days of training at Camp Bravo in Escalon, California, she entered the ring to fight (bloodlessly) a brave calf.

In 1979 Appell wrote a poem which was featured on the cover of the promotional newsletter for John F. Kennedy University. She was credited as editor of the newsletter, but not as the author of the poem, which has gone on to strike chords in hundreds, maybe thousands of people. For over twenty years it has been attributed to Anais Nin. The credit for the poem now belongs to Elizabeth.

And the day came,
When the risk to remain closed in a bud
Became more painful
Then the risk it took to blossom.

I know that when I'm up late reading a book, that it's a not only a good book, but a great book!  I loved Kip so much in this book!!  Because she's been forced to grow up quickly, she isn't your typical 15 year old girl. I just loved her personality.  She doesn't take flack from anyone, and that included famous people who thought they could roll right over her.

Her mother decides to move them both to Hollywood in hopes of starting her acting career.  Kip knows the chances of it happening, so decides to start taking some pictures of stars to sell for money.  It's a career she started before they moved, and one she finds that she's pretty good at.  When she takes a picture of Alex Milne, her life starts to change.

She doesn't expect anything from Alex, so is surprised when he's calling and asking her to do more shots of him.  After the ill-fated photo shoot, she believes her career as a photojournalist is over.  She couldn't be more wrong.  It does the opposite for her, and gets her seen by his agent.  Because of her pictures, he's up for a great movie deal.  Also, she finds herself attracted to the upcoming actor, even though she doesn't want to be.

When she finds herself in a little bit of hot water, he is the first person she calls.  To her surprise, he's in Russia filming the movie he was in line for.  Still, he makes some calls and helps her out.  His agent, Shari, takes her under her wing, and this is when her life completely changes for the better.  She's introduced to Bay Felder, Shari's grandmother, who is a famous photographer.  Kip is overjoyed at the idea of learning the  trade from a master!  Bay knows that Kip is a great photographer, and see the potential in her immediately.  Kip, isn't so sure.  She just knows is able to work the camera.

During this time, Shari helps her mother to get acting gigs, to help get her career started.  Seeing her mother happy is what is important to Kip.  When she learns the truth about her father, she starts to see her mother in a different light.  She realizes Dew did the best she could in the circumstances given to her.

During this time, she's trying to stay in touch with Alex.  It's tough with him being so far away, and knowing there is competition on the movie set for his attention is difficult.  She loves him though, and will wait for him.  She never treats him like a movie star, because that isn't who she is.  He's just Alex to her.  She does know that he has family issues, and soon she's faced with those issues herself.

His older brother Gabe has come to see her.  She's not sure what to do for him, but knows that Alex wouldn't want her turning him away.  She's the closest thing to family he has, and she tries to help him out.  Little does she know that one of her decisions to help him out would be almost her and his undoing.  She knows he's not happy, but she has no idea until it's right in front of her face.

I really loved this book!  I loved the exchanges between Alex and Kip, because he really didn't know what to make of her.  She didn't take anyone's crap, and was tough as nails.  He's fascinated by her, and even when he's beyond pissed at her, he can't stop talking to her.  They are still drawn to each other.
