Review for Say The Word by Julie Johnson!!

Say the Word Blog Tour Banner

  Synopsis
"The heart isn’t like the liver. It doesn’t regenerate, no matter how much time passes. Once it’s gone, it’s gone for good. I’d left mine with Sebastian when I walked away that day, and I hadn’t seen it in the seven years since.” — Lux Kincaid At eighteen, Lux is forced to make a choice. One that nearly destroys her. She breaks a boy’s heart. She breaks her own, too. Seven years later, Lux never expects to see Sebastian again — especially not when her career as a journalist is hanging by a thread and she’s stumbled onto the story of a lifetime. As she chases down leads and explores the dark underbelly of Manhattan, Lux will put her life on the line. But after crossing paths with a still-unforgiving Sebastian, it’s her heart she’s most worried about. Amidst the blame and the betrayal, the hurt and the heartbreak… can two lost lovers ever find their way back to one another? Lines will be blurred. The past will be unearthed. And Lux will find out that some secrets aren’t meant to be kept…

OMG... this book had me in tears not once but three times!!

Lux Kincaid has never been popular.  In fact, she's the total opposite of popular.  Her family is poor, her parents are drunks and her sweet twin brother Jamie is suffering from a rare cancer.  The one light in her life is her boyfriend Sebastian Covington who seemed to see her when no one else did.

What Lux doesn't know is there are people who don't want them to be together. She's forced to make a decision that crushes both her and Bash.  Thinking she will never see him again, she moves her and Jamie away to start a new life.  She moves on as best she can, but she never forgets about the one boy she left her heart with.

When she happens to run into him at a photo shoot, her world turns upside down again.  She never imagined he would be a photographer, because she refrained from ever looking him up.  Bash, on the other hand, has other ideas.  He wants her as his personal assistant, and makes things difficult for Lux at the beginning.  He's still very angry with her, but being Bash, he can't stay mad at her.

At the same time, Lux discovers that there are girls going missing.  Girls that won't be missed by family.  Her journalist instincts start kicking in, and it sets her off on one hell of a dangerous adventure.  When Bash gets wind of her story and the history behind it, he's bound and determined to help her out with it.  The last thing he wants is to lose her again.

Ok, now when I say this book had me in tears... it literally had me in tears. Her brother Jamie, I completely fell in love with.  She remences about her time with her twin, and the fun she had with both him and Bash as teenagers.  She knows he won't survive this cancer that has plagued him for most of his life, and when he finally comes to the realization, it's heartbreaking.  It makes me choke up thinking about it.  He loves her, and in the end, all he wants is for her to be happy.

Now... Bash.... he's understandably angry when he first sees her again.  Also, he makes it known exactly what he thinks of her, but deep down, he's still the boy she loved desperately.  Knowing they were just kids when they broke up, he knows there is more the story of why she left.  He's not exactly surprised to find out who was behind it, but he understands why Lux did what she did.  But, he's got her back now, and he's not letting her go no matter what.

I so loved this book.  Any book that can bring me to tears... OMG!!  This is one that I will read again... and it will bring me to tears again.. I'm sure!!

Review and Dream Cast for Unwanted Stars by Melissa Brown!!

Cover:  Unwanted Stars (Four)

RELEASE DATE: February 3rd
Blurb
It’s funny how the tiniest of things can change your life… an invitation, a simple kiss goodnight, a matchbook…
Auden Kelly is in need of a change.
She’s trading in her nine-to-five sales job for the adventure of a lifetime: a one year contract with a European tour company.
For one full year, Auden will get paid to see the world. What could be better? Her brother gives her a journal, instructing her to document all of her adventures as she travels from country to country. And that’s exactly what she does.
When a mysterious stranger enters her life, however, everything changes: her expectations, her priorities and her view of the world. And nothing for Auden will ever be the same.

Note: Although these books are part of a series, they do not need to be read in order
MY REVIEW:

I absolutely loved this book!!  I really did!!

Auden Kelly decides to go to London to work as a tour guide for a year.  Her family isn't happy, but she knows she needs to do it to grow as a person.  She's at a crossroads in her life, and this is the perfect opportunity for her to be on her own.

Her life takes a turn for the better when she meets Campbell Hutchins on a tour to Rome, Italy.  She knows she can't do anything, because of it would cost her her job.  What she doesn't expect is the determination of Campbell.  She's attracted, but knows her bad track record with men.  She tends to push them away quicker then normal, but she can't stay away from him.

Once she's back home, she's free to get involved with him; and she can't stay away from him.  Soon, she realizes that Cam is different then the other men in her life.  He's important, and it scares her.  He won't allow her to push him away, and he reads her mind better then anyone else has.  He picks up her moods faster then she expects, and she's not used to it.

Just as she and Campbell are getting closer, someone comes into her life that rocks her world as she knows it.  Again, she tries to push him away, needing to be alone, but he won't be pushed.  He loves her completely, and would do anything for her.  He's proven to her, on more then one occasion, that he is with her forever.

While her family life is the constant storm in her life, Campbell is the calm in the middle of it.  He's her rock when she desperately needs it.  He cheers her up when she needs it, and comforts her when she needs the comforting.  Auden knows that she loves him, and would do anything for him.  The last thing she wants to do is lose him.

I fell in love with Campbell almost instantly.  He was bound and determined to keep Auden in his life, and the little things were what fascinated me.  The little matchbooks he gave her from all over the word with messages only for her made me sigh... That little romantic gesture meant so much to her.  More then he could ever know.

With Campbell in her life, she realized what and who was important to her.

THE EXCERPT:
“I love this bridge. It’s gorgeous, isn’t it?”
“Yes,” I said, my voice small.
Campbell’s brow knitted in concern, “Auden, is everything all right?”
“Why do you ask?”
“You seem distant. Did something happen today? With Anabelle?”
“No,” I said, looking out into the water, “just thinking.”
“About me?” he said, a smug grin plastered to his handsome face. I shook my head in amusement, cracking a smile without meaning to.
“Perhaps,” I said.
“Look,” he said, “all kidding aside. I’m into you. You must know that by now.”
“I do.”
“But, your job means everything to you. And it’s not fair of me to ask you to risk it.”
I said nothing, hoping he’d continue.
“So, if you want to call this off. If you want me to leave you alone. Just say the word.”
The thought of missing out on whatever this was with Campbell was more than I could handle. Without hesitation, my head shook as I focused my eyes on his.
“I’m into you, too,” I said. “A lot.”
Campbell closed the space between us, whispering into my ear, “Then be with me.”
I swallowed hard, closing my eyes and listening to his words. Craving them, wanting more. Wanting his hands on me. Knowing that’d be next to impossible out here in the public eye. Knowing that finding actual privacy would be just as impossible.
His hand was warm in my grip. I squeezed it in solidarity, wanting him to know his desire for me was reciprocated. He placed a gentle kiss on the tip of my ear, before leading me across the stone bridge.
Hand in hand, we walked, gazing at the water, the tourists and the shop owners of the market. We didn’t say much, which felt odd at first. But, the silence between us became soothing and calm. His hand in mine, the way his thumb grazed over my fingers was all I needed to feel content.
Street lamps were the only light to be found by the time the water bus was back in our sights. Campbell stopped walking. His eyes were on fire as he took me in with his eyes. His need for me was obvious.
“Come with me,” he said, pulling me to the side of a building. One small street lamp shined dim with burnt orange light. I leaned my back against the stucco, feeling it’s cold, bumpy texture. Campbell placed his hand against the building, just above my shoulder. His other hand pressed to my hip.
“I can’t let you go yet,” he said, his eyes searching mine.
Brave Auden finally decided to make her appearance.
“Good,” I said, lifting my chin. His eyes widened, pleased with my response.
“Why?” he asked, exploring my neck with his lips.
“Why what?” I asked, playing dumb, yanking back on the control once again.
“Why is that good?” he asked, placing gentle kisses along my jawline.
“Because…” that simple word hung in the air for several moments. Campbell continued to seduce my skin with his lips and I did my best to slow down my breathing.
“Tell me,” he said.
“Because…”

“Tell me,” he repeated.
“I want you,” I said. The words left my mouth in a whisper.
Campbell stopped his kisses and I could feel his cheek against my neck. It was puffing out, forming a satisfied smile.
“Tell me again,” he said, pulling back, gazing into my eyes.
I swallowed, unsure if I should say it again. But, terrified at the thought of not saying it.
“I—I… I want you.” I said, my eyes narrowed. I was trying desperately to hide my fear, my anxiety, my lack of self-control around this man.
“You’re exquisite,” he said, his fingers running down the sides of my cheeks before he cupped his hands to them and kissed me. Hard.
His tongue entered my mouth immediately and I stroked him with mine. Delicious strokes that left me wanting more. And more. His fingers weaved through my hair, pulling gently at the base of my scalp. My back dug into the stucco, but I didn’t care.
Harder and harder, he pressed me into the building, my arms wrapped around his neck as his hands wandered down to grip my ass, hoisting my legs around him, my heels digging into the small of his back. He was hard beneath his jeans and it excited me. The feel of him beneath me was intoxicating.
Campbell pulled his mouth from mine, pushing me up further so that his lips were level with my chest. Slowly, he unbuttoned the top buttons of my tunic, exposing the lace of my bra.
“So sexy,” he said, running his fingers across the lace, causing goosebumps to rise along my arms and legs.
“Say it again,” I said, enjoying his appreciation of my body.
“You’re so fucking sexy. I can hardly stand it.”
“You want me, don’t you?” I asked with a smirk.
“You know I do,” he said, before dipping his head into my chest, stroking the skin beneath the lace with his tongue. A moan escaped my lips as I pressed my hips into his arousal.
The water bus let out three long sounds of the horn.
“Shit,” Campbell said, knowing that was the signal for last boat of the night.
“Last call. We’d better…um, we should probably go,” I said.
“I know, but…”
“I know,” I said, pressing my forehead to his. “I know.”
Slowly, he lowered me to the ground, buttoning my top for me and smoothing down my hair. Such a gentleman. He was practically devouring me just a minute prior, but when reality resurfaced, so did his chivalrous nature.
We ran to the water bus, hands again interlocked. But, when a few members of the tour hopped on the boat, my hands jumped quickly to my lap. We remained detached all the way back to our hotel, saying a casual goodbye for the night, knowing the tour members eyes were upon us.

Within my blood runs a thing our kind calls the Shadowing Disease. It shadows over, and bends everything to its will. It came with vicious intent, moving my thoughts and altering me forever. The shift has caused a rift within me. No one was safe when it entrapped me in its claws of foul lust. But I have the only antidote against the evil that becomes me – his touch alone has the power to release the spurs of sweet darkness that clung on for dear life. SYNOPSIS

This was supposed to be an easy case...

Sémya Slotin had spent the last three years living in London with her best friend Polliannah Koch staying away from solving cases. After Hawaii, she was taking a break from puzzles, cases and mysteries that could potentially get her killed. Instead, she had been doing her second and third favorite things, drinking and selling expensive vintage wines and having earthshattering sex with the mysterious, sexy, beautiful but ever so secretive Josh Heinz. Life in London was good….until her funds ran out. Too much wine drinking, not enough wine selling!

When fashion designer and adoptive mother, Annika Slotin, summoned her back to Paris to hire her for what Sémya considered being the easiest case of her amateur sleuth career, all she could think of and seeing was money signs and a well-deserved Cuban holiday once it was solved.

What Sémya didn’t see was her stumbling on the fresh corpse of supermodel Johanna Cartier. She didn’t think that male model turned fashion designer Julian Marais-Caldwin, who also happened to be Sémya’s ex, would be suspected of brutally murdering her. Johanna was his girlfriend, his muse and he loved her. Sémya didn’t see the dead bodies piling up or the conspiracy theories.

Sémya was a little rusty. But then again, it was supposed to be an easy case and she was going to solve it. One vintage wine at a time… Sémya Slotin was officially back in business!

EXCERPT
Polliannah knew that Sémya would go all Nancy Drew on her tonight. After playing nice with a few guests from the fashion house, she discreetly slipped to the hallway and gestured her to come with her. “I just need to see what’s going on over there?” she whispered as she was removing her shoes.
“Is this not a felony?” she asked Sémya. And she wasn’t going to remove her shoes! Sémya frowned back. How could it be a felony, they are not breaking and entering. They are already inside the house. Every step she was taking was making a sound. “Sorry,” she whispered when Sémya hushed her for the fourth time.
“This house is a maze,” she said opening the third room. It was yet another bedroom, another empty bedroom. She looked around, and apart from the furniture, the place was empty. </ blockquote>
“What are you searching for?” She whispered.
“Something…anything. I’ll know when I see it,” Sémya muttered back. “Hide here,”</ em> she said when they heard footsteps. She left the door slightly opened so they could see. Johanna was at the edge of the corridor with the gorgeous man they saw at the beginning of the party.</ blockquote>
“She’s cheating on Julian?”

“Hush Polli, I want to hear what they’re saying,” she told her.
“Because you have dog hearing?” Polliannah said. The man smoothly passed his hand around Johanna’s waist but she removed it. “Okay maybe he’s just a grabby guest?”
“No, he’s completely invading her personal space. She’s just being careful,” Sémya said. “Peter! Not here, not now.” Johanna said before moving away.
Peter stayed behind and looked their way. They both held our breath until he walked away. “And now I found it,” she smiled. They quickly sneaked back to the party.
“So are you going to tell Julian?” Polliannah asked her.
“Tell him what? That she was talking to some bloke?” She said as she put her shoes back on. “This is Eileen Clarke,” Sémya told Polliannah when the bubbly blond woman joined them. “You’re late but you look lovely tonight.”
“Nice to finally put a face to the name, Polliannah I presume.” Eileen blushed and turned her attention the younger woman who was next to her. “And this is Emma Blum, Johanna’s assistant. She organized this entire shindig for Miss Cartier. I just got here but everything looks great!”</ em>
Emma looked a little shaken. “Are you alright Emma?” Sémya said.
She looked away for a bit but smiled. “I’m fine. Who’s up for a tour?"
Polliannah looked at Sémya, they just had their own private tour. Eileen looked very excited about the idea. They all nodded back. “Shall we?” Emma said.
