I’d found a bathroom halfway down the hall and was on my way back toward the stairs when I heard a thud in a room to my right. At first glance nothing seemed out of order. Not wanting to be intrusive, I turned back toward the party. However, a hand clapped over my mouth, stopping me dead in my tracks. My grandfather stepped out of the shadows of the room.
“Come with us quietly and no one will get hurt.” Stephen’s eyes flared even brighter in warning.
“You wouldn’t,” I started to argue muffled by the hand behind me but knew I’d lost that argument the moment my voice cracked.
Rylan’s warm breath was in my ear and I couldn’t quite pinpoint which emotion it elicited. “Don’t give me any reasons to hurt him,” he whispered, and I knew without a doubt he meant Chase.
Part of me knew I should fight, that no one downstairs would want me to surrender no matter the cost … but another part, a much larger part, still felt the need to protect Chase. I’ll also admit that some of that was selfishness, too. I knew leaving with them could put myself in jeopardy but the possibility of having some of my questions answered was too tempting. I really didn’t believe my grandfather would hurt me. Rylan, however, I was undecided about. He seemed perfectly fine with shredding my soul apart once before. There still had to be traces of the old Rylan though, right? The boy from my dreams. Could I talk sense into him?
I nodded in understanding and followed Stephen to the back of a closet in the room. Pushing on a corner, a hidden door sprang open before him.
“Not a sound,” he said in final warning before disappearing into the blackness. Rylan removed his hand, pressed me forward then paused to close the panel behind him.
We had to have stumbled along the passage for at least ten minutes before the stale air became less thick. In the growing distance, voices called out and I clenched my jaw, imagining Chase’s panic as he searched relentlessly for me. A hint of night air tickled my nose. My strong affinity for nature was calling me as if it knew I needed help.
Rylan squeezed my shoulder in warning, clearly sensing my tension. Stephen stopped in front of me and held up his hand.
“There’s an exit right around this corner,” he whispered. “It would do you well, granddaughter, to remember our agreement.”
“I already agreed,” I replied, shaking my head in irritation. They had to have known they had me. I would never intentionally put Chase in harm’s way.
Stephen rounded the corner quickly and Rylan pushed forward. Another panel led directly into the starless night. The clouds blotted out the moon, leaving the chilly night in complete darkness. My disappearance was already creating havoc. Shouts were coming from all around as party-goers bumped into each other, stumbling through the grounds; either in search of me or fleeing in panic.
My breath caught in my throat as Rylan’s arm wrapped around my waist, pulling me close. “Not far,” he whispered close to my ear, too close, sending a ripple of goosebumps cascading over my body.

“It’s okay, honey. The power’s gone out. I’ll go check the fuse box,” Neil assured her with a quick squeeze to her arm.
“No, it’s not that. I heard a moaning before the lights went out. Didn’t you hear it?”
“No, I didn’t hear anything. Likely the wind outside is picking up a bit. We’re supposed to have rain tonight. I haven’t had time to trim the tree branches.”
She shook her head, and her body swayed. He stepped forward, and she wove her arms around his shoulders. He curled his arms around her soft curves and pulled her close, lowering his head to speak into her ear. “I’ve got you.” And he did too. He held her, and he always would, if she’d let him. He sucked in a quick breath at having his hands on her once more. Hannah’s shaking eased, and she mumbled against his chest. His body hardened at the contact. Her lavender scent wafted around and wrapped him in its cocoon. He inhaled and pulled her closer. Wait. She’d said something. Her chest vibrated against his, then she tipped her head away. He dipped his head lower to hear.
“I’m scared,” she said in a low, trembling voice.
Hannah’s next inhalation pressed her soft breasts against him. He bit his lip to stop from groaning and locked his knees. What the heck was she doing to him? His mind jumbled thoughts together when their bodies touched, and now…holding her, he was at her mercy.

Baby Mine: The Amour Series By Shannon Dobson!!

Dustin hungered for something real and something true, something he cannot have. With a surprise he never expected, his life is changed forever.

Melody, college graduate with a vision and a future. She wished she could get past her own barriers and let someone in. Will a beautiful soul capture her attention?

When two polar opposite worlds collide, hearts will break.

But whose heart?

Baby Mine (The Amour Series #1)-

Snippet from Baby Mine

Jealousy speared through my heart, making me wish my childhood had been that way. From the moment my sperm donor walked out our door, my mother became a stranger. I would still fight for her return until I took my last aching breath.

I am a 22 year old girl from Essex, UK. I have worked as a support worker for the elderly and those with learning disability since I left college in 2011. I have been writing poetry and short stories since I was three, publishing my poems through my school when I was seven. I have always loved writing and I don’t see myself ever stopping. In 2016 I will hopefully begin my university course in midwifery, my other dream. Between writing and working fulltime as a midwife, I know I’ll be happy.
I am also the organiser of the Essex Author Extravaganza 2016, the first Essex author event, that will bring authors from all over the globe to one place. I am very proud of myself for all of my achievements. I currently have three full length novels self published and Baby Mine will make that four.

Interview with Shannon Dobson

GETTING TO KNOW YOU

What were you like at school?

I was a nerd. I never got detention and focused on my studies. I wasn't the popular child but I never let it get to me because I enjoyed class.

Were you good at English?

Yes. I loved my English teacher so that helped a lot. She was strict but pushed me to to do well.

What genre are your books?

Romance/erotica/a little BDSM in the lockdown series

What draws you to this genre?

The intensity and the escapism from the real world

So, what have you written?

I have written three books in one series, the LockDown Series and Baby Mine, book 1 in The Amour Series

How much research do you do?

When it comes to real issues I research a lot. In the LockDown series there is scenes of drug abuse and I researched online about it a lot. My browser history would've probably got me arrested.

When did you decide to become a writer?

When I was a child. At 3 I started writing poems and receiving awards for them at school and quickly moved on to short stories. I've always said to my mum and dad I wanted to be an author or an archeologist.

What made you decide to sit down and actually start something?

My family gave me the confidence and seeing self published authors doing it I decided why not.

Do you write full-time or part-time?

Part time. I work 60-80 hours a week as a support worker.

Do you have a special time to write or how is your day structured?

No. It's more of a 'when I'm awake enough' or not working.

Do you write every day, 5 days a week or as and when?

Maybe twice a week.

Do you aim for a set amount of words/pages per day?

No pressure. I write what I can. Most of the world famous authors, like Stephen King, write 1k words a day maximum. It's not about quantity it's about quality.

Where do the your ideas come from?

My deviant mind ;)

Do you work to an outline or plot or do you prefer just see where an idea takes you?

I've never planned or written anything down about my books. I've just used my imagination and gone with it.

What is the hardest thing about writing?

Finding the time and peacefulness.

What is the easiest thing about writing?

Telling my characters story

How long on average does it take you to write a book?

3-6 months of writing

Who designed your book cover/s?

I do all my covers myself

If you could write with any other author who would it be and why?

Tiffany Riesz. I idolise the woman. She is a goddess at writing.

ABOUT YOUR BOOK

What made you start writing Baby Mine?
I have read so many billionaire romances where the guy is a jerk or a self obsessed twat. I wanted to write about a man with lots of money but an enormous heart for the girls to fall in love with.

Is Dustin a real person? If so can I have his number

There's a Dustin out there for everyone. He may not have the millions and flashy houses, but there's a man who'll treat you just as well.

If you had 24hrs with Dustin, what would you do?

Go to a diner, eat burgers and fries. Walk along the beach and the rest is... Well I don't kiss and tell ;)

What made you come up with your characters names?

I love using baby name lists. I like unusual names for my characters, names most people don't know or haven't heard much of.

Is Baby Mine based on real life?

In a lot of ways yes. Some of the story definitely has happened to many people. Drug abusing mother, psycho ex girlfriend, unplanned baby. A lot of people have been there.

How many book’s do you plan for these Series?

How ever many my crazy mind makes up. So far I have three books planned in my head just need to get it down on paper.
