This book grabbed me right from the first word. What Ava is forced to go through at the hands of her step-father is unfathomable, to the point she is forced to make an almost catastrophic decision.
When Ava moves to London, her life changes for the better. She's soon contacted by her step-father's lawyers for a meeting, which brings back all the terrifying memories for her. While at the meeting, she meets Jonah Jacobson, and from first laying eyes on him, she knows deep down he's going to be a problem for her. Her attraction to him is instant, and the feeling is mutual.
Struggling with dealing with the memories of the past, she's dealt with a shock about her step father. Also, she's faced with a choice that she didn't want to ever face. All she ever wanted was to forget he existed, and live her life the way she wanted to.
Soon, Jonah makes it hard to for her to ignore him. He makes it known of what his intentions are, and that he's not going anywhere. Ava is skeptical. Her step-father has ruined her for any man who wants more then just a casual fling. She believes they are all out to hurt her and that is it. When he proves that he's just as damaged as she is, her feelings for him start to change. She tries to push him away, but he's sticking to her, and he's now allowing her to cut him out of her life.
I really loved this book! The sex alone was enough to make me love it, but there was also Jonah... Hot damn!!! He's sexy, beautiful, and smoldering... and he wants nothing more then to be with Ava. Because of what happened to her, Ava is constantly struggling with her urge to protect herself. To the point she is her own worst enemy at times. She doesn't know what to do when faced with someone who treats her with respect and love. I loved seeing her grow when faced with Jonah's determination to be with her.
