MY REVIEW
When Emily Dilbert finds an engagement ring in her best friend Dylan Chamberlain's back pack, she assumes he's asking his girlfriend Denise to marry him. She knows he's making a huge mistake, as they've only been together for a very short time. So, she devises a plan with her roommates to change his mind.
Little does she know that it will cause a series of events that will change her life forever. She's been dating Zach, Dylan's older brother for five years, so she doesn't understand why it bothers her so much that Dylan wants to marry someone else. If only she understood that Dylan has a secret of his own.
He and Emily have been best friends since they were kids, and he's loved her just as long. He knows he can't have her, because she's with Zach, and his brother has plans for him and Emily. Plans that Dylan isn't happy about, but knows it's inevitable. This makes him rethink his relationship with Em. She's always calling him and depending on him, and he knows he must keep a distance from her.
I thought this was a very cute story, and I felt bad for Dylan. He's conflicted for most of the book, because of his feelings for Emily. He knows he has to stay away from her, and in the end he can't. He knows what it will do to his brother, but his feelings can't be denied any longer. Emily, doesn't know why she feels jealousy for a girl who seems nice for Dylan. Her roommates try and tell her to let it be, but she is determined to change his mind.
Soon, feelings are revealed, and feelings are hurt. Dylan feels so much guilt about the situation with Emily. He doesn't want to hurt his brother but knows that it will happen.
As I said, I thought this was a really cute story! I loved Dylan, and just because of who he was... I loved Zach as well. He was your typical football player, where everything was about football.
I did like Emily, because she honestly loved Zach, but knew their relationship wasn't what she thought it was. She hated hurting him, but she knew she her future wasn't with him. I loved her roommates, and wish I had those types of friends in college!! They were good for her, and didn't allow her to go completely crazy in her plan to find out the truth. They had her back when she really need to have it, and shook some sense into her when she was talking crazy.
