THE REVIEW

I loved this story!  I really really loved it!

The book starts with Patti catching her boyfriend in a very comprising situation with another woman.   From that point, she swears off men completely.

This changes when she meets Jon at a bar when she goes out with her friends.  He's cute, but when she sees the two women he takes home with him, she knows he a player.  For Jon, Patti is beautiful, and he can't seem to get her out of his mind.

Imagine her shock when he literally re-ends her at a traffic light.  He uses this as an excuse to ask her out to dinner, which she accepts.  She doesn't know what to expect, but she does know she's going to give him a chance no matter what.  Relationships haven't been good for her, and she's ready to throw in the towel completely.

What she didn't expect was how much Jon would effect her.  She likes him.  She wasn't expecting him to be so intense and so passionate.

Jon, once he's able to see her socially, doesn't want to let her go.  He's got secrets that make him afraid to commit to a girl, but he realizes that Patti isn't the type of woman he usually goes after.  Once he realizes he's in love with her, he's tries his best to push her away.  He has this misguided belief that he's trying to protect her, and he's surprised that once she knows the truth about his past, she still wants to be with him.  And is willing to fight for what they have.

When Patti gets into a car accident, it makes her realize that she wants him in her life.  If only he would co-operate and not push her away and leave her.

I loved Patti!  I had a thought about where this book was going, and it went a completely different way!  I love when that happens!  She's lost her father, and thinks that by living by the speed of her car is a way to stay close to him.  When she realizes this isn't the way to live, she decides to let go of something very dear to her.  It's hard, but she knows it's got to be gone from her life to move on.

As I said, I loved loved this book!  I loved Jon... he's my new book boyfriend!  Yes, he's haunted, but when he realizes that what he and Patti have is real, he sees that he must let go of the past that he couldn't seem to let go of.
